STRESS - The EFFECTIVE CURE

Ranked #13,474 in Healthy Living, #213,273 overall

THE CURE FOR STRESS IS STRETCHING THROUGH ACTIVE EFFORT, AND BY INDUCTION OF MENTAL STILLNESS.

Relax at the beach!

Yes, that's an obvious stress reducer, but we can't be at the beach all of the time.

A lot of mental stress is trivia - mental trivia: people get themselves into a roundabout state of mental focusing upon problems, worries and then engaging in a mental groove turning the issues around inside their minds, this can be stressful mentally and even physically debilitating. Many people can be at the beach relaxing; apparently, but with their minds running away with the inner dialogue of internal discussions about their worries, repeating lists of things to do, regurgitating their problems, all going around in their head: it all ads to the anxiety matrix in the mind.

When you do activities both physical and mental that have some value, then; the trivial mental regurgitations and recapitulations of the mind when it has been allowed to set its own agenda in free fall, can overridden and the negative stress is dispelled. Now much of this negative stress can be put down to the internal dialogue that happens within our minds. This is a concept that may be new to you. Its hardly ever mentioned in psychology or in therapy techniques; maybe because its so obvious and always there that it gets no attention from external observation.

Its interesting to note that much of our minds chattering is trivia. When we stretch ourselves through active effort, like when we have a hard task to do, work, new objectives, new responsibilities, emergencies and so on, then we become far less involved with trivial matters; this can be observed in yourself and with others. When such trivia disappears, even temporarily we can often get things done that prior to shaking ourselves out of our former state we might have thought it unachievable. And as a result our stress disappears also!

Most stress is generated by an almost unconscious worry state of the mind; because we are 'in it' we do not observe it.

There is no quick cure - some methods work for some people, whilst others gain no benefit from similar practices, but this is no reason to give up; it takes time and needs patience but the eventual pay off will be worth it. There is no single formula that works the same way for everyone, try a few approaches and techniques, there are even machines that can assist: these are listed below. So find a comfortable option that feels good, one that works and brings about a calmer mind: every problem begins in the mind!

Combating stress related issues

'The struggle between different elements within the human psyche, each with its own urgent agenda, is a drama as old as humanity, recognised as such since ancient times.
Indeed, every individual living today will have grappled, not always successfully, with conflicts which arise in our divided selves between what psychologists call the 'subpersonalities'. These 'multiminds' have a profound effect on our relationships and behaviour. Given the structure of our brains, we cannot escape them - but we can learn to manage them better': Pat Williams - Minfields college.

On this thought-provoking CD, Pat Williams looks at the effects of this situation and offers vivid and valuable metaphors which can help us to manage our differing and often opposing mental states quickly and effectively.

This CD is one of very few that touches upon the subject of our inner multiple selves and has a certain relationship to stress. When a stressful state of mind is continuing along its repetative track, - knowing that we can obtain the means to shift it: is of great value.

AROUND & AROUND

The unknown reasons behind the causes of STRESS

EscherMy own experiences that brought me to an understanding of these matters happened long ago when I was a DJ.

I would play records all night at a club and then go home to try and sleep, which was impossible and my inability to sleep was made worse by my habit of taking amphetamines to get me through the night. When I tried to sleep the musical repertoire of the DJ session would replay over and over in my head. I commanded it to stop. Of course it did not. And 'I' realised that I had no control over this part of my own mind. Do you recognise this; have you like most people had tunes and advertising jingles playing away in your mind, without your consent or ability to stop it?

This part of the mind is the very same mechanism that plays away with your endless stressful worries, imaginings, fears and troubles and anticipated tribulations.

There are methods to deal with it, and this is the root cause of stress.

You need to learn the 'KNACK' of generating periods of inner tranquillity.

The APET MODEL

Emotions can run off with our minds, don't let them...

APET MODEL"The emotional centre of the brain, housed in the limbic system, developed some millions of years earlier than the neocortex, the highest part of our brains, concerned with thinking, planning, memory, etc.

The limbic system is concerned with raw emotion; it is the higher centres that put a more delicate spin on things, enlarging pleasure and desire into a capacity to bond with and care for other beings, for instance. Because the neocortex grew up out of the emotional brain, there are innumerable connections between the two - and more extend upwards than extend downwards, giving the emotional brain enormous influence on how we think as well as feel.
The limbic system first developed in our distant mammalian ancestors to deal with instinctive behaviours, such as eating and mating and surviving. One of the main roles of a structure called the amygdala was to promote survival by alerting the organism to possible danger and triggering the physiological fight or flight response". METHODS

type=textLooking at Nature: the contemplation of the natural world. Seems too simple, but that's where we evolved from and if we look and contemplate on trees, water falls, moving water, watching waves, watching clouds - although this can cause neck ache looking up so position yourself in a comfortable manner probably best to lie down; this can be very effective, for example if in a plane to look at clouds and observe breathing - it can effectively remove any fear - stress due to flying.

Observing your breathing - don't interfere, don't slow or speed it up just watch it.

Walking: a great stress reliever, better still get out into the countryside: S T R E T C H your legs. Play Golf. Walk the dog (pets help relive stress).

Get an ionizer in your bedroom.

Alcohol, of courses in moderation, maybe a glass of red wine a day can be a factor in reducing stress.

Genuine laughter.

A long relaxing bath.

Sex is a stress reliever, best of course with someone you love.

Blood pressure is the overall measure that the medical fraternity use to assess stress; but its a blunt instrument.

Meditation... self hypnosis..these are valuable tools.

Anxiety is related to stress...panic attacks....depression too. Deal with it by taking the first steps to become calm and in control of your mind.

Fear of things that may not happen can lead to a state of anxiety, fear of real things like tigers in the jungle is good: imaginary ones lead to anxiety, try to banish such moods and mental iterations, go out for a walk, smell the air, feel the sunshine, the wind or rain...

Emotions like Fear and Anger can result in a runaway mind tackle these symptoms with mind relaxation methods see the APET model.

Movement works well for depression - get up out and move: depression is probably caused by mental stress, the stress of endless thinking and re-thinking of your problems, don't do it.

Disclaimer: anyway as required always consult your doctor about these issues especially so if your taking medicines, most doctors do recommend the methods discussed here.

Gadgets that can help with STRESS

The NOVA unit I can personally recommend, expensive, but keep at it and you WILL get positive results.

Then there is the emerging field (some say quackery) but all medicines started out with lots of opposition one way or another: so 'Electro-medicine' is no different in this respect. The Orgonite Zapper is acknowledged to be very useful in lifting depression.
