Job Stress Affecting Performance of Workers Globally

When corporations and organizations around the world began uncovering connections between the levels of stress a worker had and the instances of poor health, they began working toward a better solution.
 
The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) has been preparing companies to combat the effects of stress in the workplace through education and awareness training.
 
It came to the forefront of government concerns when more workers complained of aches, pains, sleeplessness, decrease in appetite and utter exhaustion.  The higher the stress level, the more a worker's health is at risk.

You may think it's just the workload that makes a person stress out, but in reality, it's much more than that.

The conditions of the workplace as a whole affect employees more than just their overall task list.

Removing Workplace Stress Requires a Two-Pronged Approach 

In order to create a stress-free atmosphere, or at least one that isn't contributing to the demise of your health, it will require a combination of solutions. The first is organizational change.

You can contact upper management and have them address the issue using consultants who work on improving working conditions. If more breaks are needed, or responsibilities need to be shared, then those in senior positions need to help their employees achieve a better working environment.

But the second thing that must be done is you have to learn how to deal with the stress on your own. Stress management techniques are plentiful - you only need to find one that works for you.

Some companies have employee assistance programs where they help you find the stress management solutions you need. But you may be on your own. If this is the case, test a few different methods, such as self-hypnosis, Reiki, or Meditation.

You will probably begin seeing a rapid decrease in the amount of stress you live with. Knowing how to manage it helps you instantly apply those methods whenever a situation arises where you feel anxious and tense.
