Stretch Leggings and Jeggings for Women, by Fabric Content

When I first searched on stretch leggings for women, I didn't know there were so many fabric choices. There are different fabrics and different weights to the fabric. So I've grouped the leggings according to their main fabric. They all have some type of blend. All of the leggings below, are also footless.

The main fabrics are cotton, acrylic, and nylon:

Cotton is a soft fluffy material that grows around the seeds of the cotton plant.

Acrylic is a synthetic fiber that is made from a polymer.

Nylon is a silky material that is in the synthetic polymer family; otherwise known as plastics.

Spandex refers to Spandex, Lycra, and Elastane. Spandex is a synthetic fiber with great elasticity. Synthetic fibers are made through a process that forces the fiber materials through holes, into the air, that produces a thread. The leggings that I found here all have some form of Spandex in them; it helps give them their stretch.

Micro-fiber simply refers to the size of the fiber being less than one denier. One strand of silk measures one denier.

In deciding on your leggings, it helps to know what they are going to be used for. If they are for bicycling, then snug fitting leggings will be best; to keep loose fabric away from the wheels. Some fabrics are traditionally thinner than others, such as micro-fibers. Micro-fiber leggings are better suited for layering, and aren't meant to wear as pants.

Washing instructions vary, and have been included when it was noted on Amazon.
