What Causes Stretch Marks?

When preventing is overlooked, a lot of factors can cause stretchmarks. The question of what causes stretch marks is an important one to answer before we look at the creams that help fade them. Stretch marks are caused by abnormal hormone activity. You don't have to be pregnant or fat or big to get them. As a matter of fact, it is a very common skin condition, but most people who have them are embarrassed by them and keep them to themselves, so they are less talked about or heard of.

1Growth Spurts - Anyone can develop stretch marks during puberty due to rapid weight gain. Natural growth for adolescent boys and girls causes rapid body changes.
2Pregnancy - The most typical cause of stretch marks in women is due to weight gain and the skin stretching rapidly when a woman is pregnant. In addition, hormonal changes can also cause women to develop stretch marks during pregnancy. A woman's belly will suddenly grow very large within nine months, requiring the skin to stretch several inches, while it is unable to produce the collagen it needs to do this stretching.
3Poor Nutrition - Poor nutrition is also a leading cause of stretch marks. There are many foods that aid in the production of collagen and a diet lacking in these foods can hinder the body's collagen production, especially during times when it is most needed - such as during pregnancy and puberty. A diet rich in vegetables and fruits can help prevent stretch marks. Vitamins A, C and E are also important to healthy, elastic skin and the great thing is your skin will have a great healthy glow.
4Age - Age is a chief factor when it comes to stretch marks. Over time, the body slows its production of collagen, which is essential to supple, elastic skin.
5Body Building - Rapid growth of muscle in body building causes the skin to overstretch in a short period of time, resulting in stretch marks. Certain medication may also cause stretch marks, especially steroids related medications.

How Do You Get Rid of Stretch Marks?

Stretch marks respond best to treatment when they are in still in their early stages. Whatever the reason for the stretching of the skin be it weight gain, pregnancy or puberty, when this stretching occurs at a rate that the skin is unable to produce enough collagen to keep up with the rapid changes, stretch marks form. With a proper diet and a good skin moisturizing routine you can greatly decrease their number and severity.

I've been using this product for over six months now. I can tell you that it met all my expectations. My skin looks definitely softer. I recommend it to everyone. This Palmers Shea Butter Jar and Palmers Cocoa Butter Jar, being the two products in their most solid pure form worked perfectly. Having the family genetics for really tight skin, which is fabulous for aging, is horrific for pregnancy. All maternal woman in my family suffered daggar-like scaring. I definitely have to agree, this is definitely the best cream i have ever used and i have only been using it about 3 weeks. I have noticed the color getting better(lightening up), and the texture of my skin is a lot smoother, and i will also be using it the full 12 weeks recommended. It says in the box the results aren't as good on old stretch marks, but mine are over 2 years old. I am very happy with this product and will most likely be using until i can afford laser treatments.

I ordered the Nivea Good Bye Cellulite Serum about 10 days ago and bottom line is IT REALLY WORKS! I had this whole long speech but who has time for all that? I apply it once a night after a shower and use a sort of deep tissue massage kind of thing with small circular motions first up and down my thighs then I finish off with long sweeping motions all the way up my leg and down to my knee. I'm not sure if that makes a difference but that's what works for me. I would say my skin is 90% smoother than before and I judged my case as severe!
