Stretch Marks Removal

Sometimes due to some hormonal disturbances or imbalances skin can't keep pace with rapid stretching of dermis resulting in dermal and epidermal tearing. This tearing of the dermis due to rapid stretching of the skin associated with rapid muscle growth or weight gain (e.g. pregnancy) that overcomes the dermis-elasticity is known as stretch marks or striae/singular stria. It refers to thin, narrow grooves or channels, or a thin line or band especially if several of them are parallel or close together. It is a kind of scarring on the skin with an off-color hue which can diminish but may not disappear completely. Generally, except ugly looks, they do not pose any health risk and do not affect body's normal functions/ability to repair itself.

Beginning with reddish or purple lines they tend to gradually fade to a lighter color. The affected areas appear empty and are soft to the touch.

Stretch marks can appear anywhere on the body but are most likely to appear in places where larger amounts of fat are stored such as abdomen, breasts, upper arms, underarms, thighs, hips, and buttocks.

In extreme cases/circumstances treatments like fractional laser resurfacing, radio frequency combined with 585-nm pulsed dye laser treatment, dermabrasion, prescription retinoids and some types of cosmetic surgery may be suggested otherwise preparations based on cocoa butter (an effective moisturizer) and/or some creams/lotions/oils containing a combination of one or more of the items such as Centella asiatica extract, vitamin E, collagen-elastin hydrolysates, panthenol, hyaluronic acid, elastin and menthol offers effective treatment and best results can be achieved.
