The day that Mike's son arrived, it was the happiest day of his life. He called everybody, including ex-girlfriends, work colleagues, even his neighbours (who he usually complained to me about) to tell them that it was the best day of his life. He had a son and he was so excited and passionate about being a good father.

Now Mike knew that I sold these Strider bikes, and he knew that they were really quite something. As soon as Herbie was born, he bought one ready for him. So as soon as Herbie reached his "1 and a half-year birthday" as Mike called it - Mike put Herbie onto his bike that had been brought out of the storage shed and dusted off ready for his pride and joy to ride.

Herbie was all excited.. Wow a new toy for him to play with. Mike put Herbie on the bike, and Herbie just walked along with the bike between his legs. He did look cute.. I must say!

I didn't see them all week, but I did go back next week and I was amazed at what I saw. Herbie had by now been scooting around on the bike all week and felt most comfortable with it all. Mike put Herbie at the top of a slope in his garden and let go of him.

He whizzed down the slope by himself. Seeing such a tiny dinky little boy on the saddle riding a bike by himself was quite amazing.
