More women are attending on-campus and online universities than in previous years. Private organizations have responded to this, providing educational grants for woman, including grants for single mothers, in an effort to help these students obtain the degree they are pursuing.

Recent studies indicate that more women than men are enrolling in colleges and universities. Research shows that over the last several years, more women were more likely to enroll in college courses than their male counterparts, often opting for a four-year program and working toward a bachelor's degree. The increase of female students has also caused an increase of scholarships for single mothers.

Organizations Offering Assistance Growing

Consequently, many schools and organizations are offering scholarship and grants opportunities for female college students. The Jackson, Michigan, branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) has opened the application process for two scholarships, the Jackson Citizen Patriot reports. Others offer graduate school scholarships for those continuing higher education.

Women are eligible based on the degree they are pursuing, and are invited to apply for these financial aid benefits. Scholarships are also being awarded at various schools across the country for female students that are working hard to maintain their grade point average to at least a B or above. Teachers and employers are working together to suggest and recommend these scholarships be awarded to worth individuals, by way of solid recommendation letters.

Women everywhere are being encouraged to apply for these financial aid and scholarship opportunities, regardless of their income. The idea is that women know that they can still receive a quality education and graduate with the knowledge and experience they need to enter the workplace with confidence. Many of these online degree grant and scholarship opportunities work equally well with accredited distance colleges.

Men are less likely than women to pursue a higher education, especially a Bachelor's degree in a four-year program. Women on the average complete their education more rapidly than men. Organizations are recognizing the commitment that so many women have to making their daily schedules work while studying and taking classes that will help them improve their learning experience and in turn get the career in the field they are interested in. Thus creating education grants for woman and scholarships for single mothers.

Colleges and universities, both on-campus and online colleges, are developing programs that will help women working to further their education and take it to the next level. College grants and scholarships are being awarded to women that are working hard and maintaining their grades.

Named after a former women's basketball coach at the university, the funds will support the Texas Undergraduate Leadership Program, which provides stipends, mentoring, workshops and community service opportunities to female minority students and those who are majoring in fields in which women are underrepresented. Female students may seek similar grant for online school opportunities that can help them pay for tuition at campus-based or online universities.
