by the numbers...
everyone loves to look over my shoulder when I "play" with images and it is something I enjoy doing...however, when I need help and there is no shoulder for me to peer over, I seek out those in the know (and that "in the know" is typically deke mcclelland)...
and just who is this deke guy...here is a description I lifted from total training, "Deke is a well-known expert and lecturer on Adobe Photoshop and the larger realm of computer graphics and design. He serves as host to the interactive Video Workshop that ships with Photoshop CS as well as the exhaustive and entertaining Total Training for Adobe Photoshop CS." ...man can it get any dryer than that???
deke is way more kewl than that...not only is he informative and a great instructor, he brings his unique style and humor along...there are tons of photoshop instructors out there but as far as I am concerned this is the "go to" guy when you want something explained thouroughly and effectively and boring is just not a part of the program...

while I am a big fan of deke and believe everyone should have a copy of the "photoshop bible," there are other resources I would recommend (mainly cuz they are online and they are FREE)...I've created another lens here on squidoo dedicated to photoshop tutorials I've found online that I think are worth a look...
some instructors are better than others as are the qualities of some videos...but know that as an artist who has used photoshop for over 15 years, I am only including those videos that I feel have something worthwhile to impart...

- photoshop is the most powerful image editing program on the planet...it is also less than intuitive in how it does what it does...looking over someone's shoulder (even if that shoulder is a virtual shoulder) can unlock much of the mystery that trying to read and understand the manual (or any of the dozens or so fine books available) just can't do...a moving picture in this case is worth many thousands of words...
