It is an automatic self winding watch that features a day, date & month calendar. Such a smooth watch, this is your everyday use watch.

Not only do the black leather band, stainless steel casing, and the blued hands look great together, but one look through the back casing will reveal a unique view of basic watch design that is still amazing to this day. Having previously only owned electronically controlled watches, there is something intriguing about watching the internal gears turn and knowing that nothing but the movement of my arm is keeping it alive. As far as its capabilities to keep accurate time, it is great for a purely mechanical device. I synchronized this timepiece with a digital clock over a week ago and they are still running within a few seconds of each other. The day and date movement adjust automatically without issue but the month setting must be adjusted manually with a press of a recessed button on the side. Number 9 on my list of the top Stuhrling watches is this Stuhrling Original Apocalypse Skeleton Watch. Definitely appropriate for your boating, golfing or sports outings, this Stuhrling watch is very modern and agile. It is water resistant up to 165 feet. I love this watch because it isn't nearly as heavy as it looks and it is still elegantly crafted--it gets asked about every time I showcase the watch.

This watch is of exceptional quality. I've read some horrible reviews on other sites, but decided to purchase the watch and see for myself. I am glad I didn't listen to the other reviewers. The packaging the watch came in makes a beautiful presentation. The watch is a tad bit weighty, but that does not take away from the beauty of the watch itself. Being an automatic watch you would expect it to lose time if you are not constantly wearing it, but that is not the case. The band was a little large for my wrists, but that was easily fixed with an exacto knife and some jeweler tools. I would definitely recommend this watch to anyone looking for a new time piece.---V. This timepiece is my lounge around at home watch. I like having a 'home only' watch since this is where my watches get banged up most often. The Stuhrling Original Men's Classic Cuvette Watch comes with a scratch resistant sapphire dial and a tough enough leather band so it's a watch that can take a bit of a beating and still perform like a Swiss watch should.

This is a great watch! It is very comfortable, has large easy to read face, and is made from quality materials. This could be the special occasion with the loved one watch or the 'I want to really impress this crowd' watch. This Stuhrling watch, to me, is the quintessential 'significant other night' watch.

I have several self winding watches, and this one is wonderful. It is big, and it is heavy; I don't know how I will like it during the winter putting on coats and removing them, but the watch itself is excellent.

It has the ability to be able to stop both the minute and second hand when the stem is pulled out all the way. Consequently, it is possible to set it with precision. Unlike many mechanical watches, this one almost has the accuracy of a quartz. It's gain or loss is less than a second or two per day -- quite remarkable for a non-quartz movement.

If you're tired of buying watch batteries every time you turn around, and having a quartz movement quit because its battery died and you are far from a place which sells watch batteries, then this is the one for you. I couldn't be happier with it.

And -- you can set both the day and the date with the first stop pulling out the stem. When the stem is pushed in all the way, it can be wound so you don't have to stand around and shake it as if you were preparing a martini as with many mechanical watches.

I purchased an Invicta watch through another source and this watch at about the same time. The Invicta fell apart after a month and I have not had any trouble with this watch. The watch is very solid, is striking as a dress watch but tough enough to stay on your wrist for all occasions.
The time of day is easy to read. The day, date, and month can be obstructed by the hands at certain times of day. This is not a great drawback, just an observation.
Setting the moon phase is somewhat complicated, requiring a reference to the instruction manual for a chart or a lunar calendar. I set mine close and slapped it on my wrist.
