Subliminal Messages in Disney Movies?
First, what is a subliminal message? And what Disney movie is supposed to have subliminal messages? Want to see for yourself?
Come and watch and tell us what you think. Is the Lion King really about sex? What about The Little Mermaid? Aladdin? Is Disney secretly telling us to take off our clothes?
Is the real reason Disney World and Disney movies are so popular MIND-CONTROL? What messages are they hiding in these family-oriented movies?
First What Is a Subliminal Message?
Subliminal means it operates "below the threshold of conciousness" (Dictionary.com). So it is something you see, without realizing you see it. Or something you hear without realizing you hear it.Wikipedia says:Subliminal stimuli is sensory stimuli below an individual's absolute threshold for conscious perception. Visual stimuli may be quickly flashed before an individual may process them, or flashed and then masked, thereby interrupting the processing. Audio stimuli may be played below audible volumes, similarly masked by other stimuli, or recorded backwards in a process called backmasking.
What is controversial is whether these messages or stimulus which we are unaware of, can influence our behavior. Well and the other controversy is over the nature of these messages some claim Disney has hidden in its movies.
Subliminal Messages in Disney's Little Mermaid
So the first example shown is of a suspicious bulge in the clergy's robes as the very attractive Ariel appears before him. Research indicates that the scene shown never made it into the movie. If you don't own a copy of The Little Mermaid on DVD - just click here to get one and then after you watch it through, come back and tell us if you see anything odd in the wedding scene. The next example given is the unusual shaping of the towers shown on a previous version of the cover. Clearly both of these examples stem from a naughty animator who has grown bored and is wondering whether anyone is even paying attention to the details of his drawings. Like, would anyone even notice, if he just drew...... I say HE because Disney animators were generally male and come on, that's just the sort of things that guys do.
And apparently in the case of the wedding scene yes, a co-worker or boss did notice and the drawings were changed. And in the case of the towers, they went public, though the cover art was later changed. Here is a later version:
Subliminal Messages in Disney Movies
Just Plain Silly
Okay, so after the Little Mermaid examples, the next ones get even more far-fetched. Sex in the dust. Hey, why don't we all complain about the hidden shapes that are in the cloud formations going overhead every day.
And words that I don't hear... okay, now, I know I said that subliminal messages are messages that you DON'T hear -- so that proves the point, right? But the idea of subliminal messages that are trying to persuade the listener to take action. I don't see it.
And besides, there are how many hours of Disney movie footage and this few seconds are the most damning examples they can find?

- I had never heard of this before. Interesting read. There is always an urban legend about a song etc... but this was fun to read.

- I'm going to agree with the bored animator theory. I remember hearing about these examples years ago, and people making a big deal about them. I still just wonder who has time to look for all of this.

- I'm totally with you there -- most of this has to be shown in slow motion -- who is watching Disney movies like that? Maybe a few animation students, but other than that?

- i love disney don't get me wrong but they DO indeed have subliminal messages. My friend and i pointed out so many in the little mermaid and not only that we were laughing at how the cattipiller in alice in wonderland was sitting on a halucigenic shroom and smoking pot... i know kids don't notice this but we teens and adults do..

- Well Alice in Wonderland itself has some kind of hallucinogenic themes, which was in the original story before Disney created an animated version. I'm not sure the messages are subliminal if you think they are lost on kids, but not on teens or adults.

- I agree with the beginning of your comment, but just saying the caterpillar in Alice in Wonderland is smoking a special type of tobacco called Shisha out of a hookah. NOT pot (weed, marijuana) hence his name The Hookah-Smoking caterpiller

- I don't know if I should be laughing, but I am. Do people have nothing better to do than find this stuff on their DVDs and Blue-rays? Little kids don't care. I think the regular scenes in those movies are more traumatic than sex in the clouds. Great lens, though. I love a good laugh.

Do Subliminal Messages, Subliminal Recordings Ever Work?
Explore the Concept of Subliminal Recordings and then Weigh In With What You Think
Some say you can use recordings of subliminal messages to lose weight, improve your sex life, stop procrastinating and more. Can subliminal audio recordings help you, or is it just as silly as the Disney subliminal movie messages?
As I said before, the word SUBliminal itself, in fact describes how the process works. It means BELOW threshold. A subliminal audio plays just below a person's threshold or ability to take in something.
When we are awake and conscious we all can easily perceive the things around us, but only to an extent. There are many things that are constantly going on in the background of our daily activities that we unknowingly hear or perceive without realizing it. These kinds of background events demonstrate how subliminal audio works.
Say you are walking across the street and you notice the vehicles and men and women moving about around you. While walking, you hear your own thoughts, a car horn and a group of people talking. Those three things are the apparent perceptions, but you may have unintentionally heard someone in the group state that they're going to start taking it easy and slow down their pace a bit.
You didn't actually hear that voice through all the others and you didn't take time to fully grasp it either. You just keep walking on to your destination. Once you approach the next intersection the light turns yellow, instead of rushing across the sidewalk as you normally do, you decide to slow down and wait for the next light. You have just been affected by subliminal messaging, although all of this could have happened and you will never have known.
The same concept lies in purpose driven subliminal audio. When there is a goal or topic to be absorbed via messaging, the messages themselves play at a hardly audible background volume and are perceived without knowing it.
After enough of this unconscious perception, the topic or goal will start to 'unconsciously' play out in your daily life all without any real practice or effort. Effective subliminal audio does take a willing subconscious mind as with all self-help practices, however, the benefits can be life changing.

So I recently came back from a trip to Disney World in Florida and you get the impression that they are just printing money down there. For most people alive today the 'Magic of Disney' has been around as long as they can remember. Mickey Mouse is a household name. Can you imagine a time when no one knew the name 'Walt Disney'? Or even more amazing, when Walt Disney's business teetered on the brink of bankruptcy? A time he went hungry because the company didn't earn enough money for him to buy himself lunch?
If you are fascinated with all things Disney....
Or if you like to hear rags to riches stories.....
Or you love biographies, then you'll love this book!
Note this book comes as an audiobook too, if you like to listen as you drive along
