Fab lens! When I was freelance copywriting I was using sites like Elance and Getafreelancer, but ultimately found that once I had made a few contact, I had a stream of work. As long as the quality of what I was delivering was top notch, people were only happy to return to me for more and recommend me to their contacts too.

    Great lens!

Some very useful tips here. Perseverance seems to be the key to success.

I agree that you should keep a record of the jobs you've applied for, otherwise things can get very confusing!

Check out my creative copywriter blog for more tips, hints and links. Leave me some feedback guys - the more the merrier!

Couldn't agree more vbright105. There ARE some very low paid jobs out there. You do have to sort the wheat from the chaff. If you persevere and you are good enough, you will get the better paid stuff. Many people stop trying too soon.

Interesting, however, having been a freelance writer for 20 years, I can tell you that most of these places that want writers are offering WAY too little money? .75 for a 200 word article? NO WAY! Don't be undercut. If you are new, demand at least, at the VERY LEAST 1 cent per word.

    Hi InternetJunkie,
It sounds like a cop out but practice, practice, practice is exactly how I did it. The more you write, the faster you get and the more you learn how you personally can research quickly and effectively.
    Keep on going!

At my writing rate (2 hours for an article at best), I'm not sure I could live from my writing; any tips on how to research your topics and write quickly?
