Ranked #22,187 in Home & Garden, #329,697 overall
Having a good Garage or Yard Sale is fun and easy.
I love garage sales and am a bit of a fanatic when it comes to hosting my own. Garage sales are much easier to have then you think and a lot of fun especially when you have on in your neighborhood.
I have a garage sale every year to get rid of my old stuff. Here are my best garage sale rules and tips.

Garage Sale Tips
6 tips to having the perfect garage sale!
Step 1 - Organize. Find stuff that you want to sell. Box everything up and place it in the garage for pricing. Get your supplies together. You will need. Tape, price stickers, cash box, change, bags, newspaper, poster board for signs, black markers, clean cloths and mild cleaning solution.
Step 2- Pricing. Remember, this is stuff that you want to get rid of. The worst mistake garage salers make is pricing items to high. If your stuff doesn't sell you will have to either put it back or haul it away. It's better to sell it. Another pricing mistake is not pricing at all. People like to see prices. It's psychological.
Step 3 - Advertise. Place an ad in the local paper. Even if it costs you a few dollars it is well worth it and will bring a lot more traffic to your sale. Better yet have a street sale and split the cost of the ad.
Step 4 - Get help. Enlist family members to help out the day of the sale. It's more fun to have a group of people to a sale then go it alone.
Step 5- Haggle. Remember, you don't want to put this stuff away. If someone offers you less, take it!
Step 6 - Have Fun. Whatever profit you make is found money. You would have given this stuff away or trashed it so whatever profit you make should be fun money! Go out to dinner, take a short trip or buy a frivolous gift for yourself.

- I love yard sales! If I lived closer, I would definitely be looking for yours. One other tip...if you make signs to post at major streets or intersections, keep in mind you need to make the lettering very big so people driving by can actually read it! :)

- Here's a great site you missed... YardGopher.com
You can search photos and descriptions of everything for sale at local yard sales before heading out. For example, you can type "bike" in the search box and it will show you all garage sales in the area that have bikes for sale. It's a great way to find bargains because I've found some really really great deals at garage sales.

- Another great site is http://GarageSaleFinder.com/.
In addition to offering free listings, if you're a shopper, you can print out free maps with turn-by-turn directions from sale to sale. Or, if you're technically-minded, it's the only site out there where you can download the sale data to your portable GPS device for super-easy shopping and no wasted paper.
