Lets say that instead of it being 2007... lets imagine the year is 1983. And a young man with hair down to the middle of his back showed you a small wooden box with some green lettering on the front and said this is the future!!! It's called a computer and it can process data for you. You look queerly at the man and start asking yourself a myriad of questions like" What use is this thing? What will my friends think if I have this in my house? Who else has one? Who would buy one? You decide they are too bulky and expensive to ever have mass appeal and you pass the opportunity. Today you would be a billionaire if you only could see the future. If you only saw life through a millionaires or billionaires eyes instead of your middle class eyes.....life would be full of opportunity. When you started making calls and selling the "brick" and your friends and family said "you've lost your mind" you would pay no attention because you see into the future and move forward with complete confidence.
I have news for you folks... the future is looking you in the eyes TODAY!!!

The Top Ten Reasons Why People Will Quit
and Leave MLM.
Well... we all have seen it as Leaders...
People come into this business and have all the dreams
in the world ready to grab...and they start this
business, and down the road, they become the Amazing
Disappearing Distributor(as we covered a couple of
weeks ago)....what happened? What went wrong?
We have studied relentlessly people who have quit and
left the business, and also folks who have had great
Success...this week, we will cover the top ten reasons
we have found why people leave.... next week will be
the top ten reasons why people succeed...
1) "Trying the Business."
Many folks who come into this business, have a
focus of "I am going to try it and see what happens.."
That is a death toll for this business. People who TRY
the business are not sold on it, and are not serious
about it. this business demands everything you have
inside of you, and will stretch you to the
limit.... and if you are only in it to try it.... than
do yourself a favor and get out of it. it will only
drive you crazy with the frustration a half hearted
effort and belief brings.... here is a question we ask
all the time in our seminars...
"Have you made a Choice to TRY this Business...or a
DECISION to Become Successful in it?" Your destiny
lies within your answer...
2) "Distractions."
Life has a way of throwing daily distractions in
front of you to de-focus you in your business...and
then we start using those distractions as excuses not
to perform at Maximum Fire.... whatever your
distractions are...remember this...
KILLER Secret:
Every distraction you focus on has a cost and you must
pay that cost in your business.... and they can cost
you a ton of money....
And we usually ALLOW distractions to slow us down and
stop us.... they are not something we cannot
control...we just refuse to and end up so distracted
we just lose focus and then lose interest.... question
is.... who is the REAL loser in this picture???
3) "Listening to the Wrong People."
Well meaning friends...God blessem.... but they can
kill your excitement and dreams quicker than you can
say..."DreamStealer!" Let me ask you a
question...would you go to someone who has never
worked on a car before to get you car fixed? of course
not...Would you go to someone who has never cut hair
before to cut it for an important dinner?...Of course
not.... Would you go to a plumber to do heart surgery?
of course not...nor would you go to a surgeon to put a
new hot water tank in....
Why?
they have not done what you want done...wrong person
to ask and listen to...No matter how the plumber tried
to convince you he could operate on your heart...you
wouldn't listen to him.... why do people listen to
folks who have never had success, never experienced
success, and who know little of success, about
success? That one is a mystery...listen to the Right
folks who can help you get to where you want to go and
has BEEN THERE!
4) "Busy AT the Business, but not busy
BUILDING the business."
There are a lot of great activities that you can do in
network marketing, and you can get real busy
preparing.... for meetings, for phone calls, for 3
ways, for follow ups, for trainings, for events, for
just about anything.... but you are not earning a
dime....
KILLER Secret:
There is only ONE THING you do to build this business
and earn a paycheck...
Communicate with people.
And if you are not talking to people about signing up,
or buying your product, or doing it with you to show
them how...you are busy AT the business...but not
building it...
You build this business one customer at a time, one
distributor at a time.... but...
Not the same one all the time....(CLUE!!!!!)
5) "Not Plugging In."
There was a study done by my old company, and
they found an amazing fact.... the distributors that
plugged their new distributors into the company
system(voice mail, email, conference calls,
trainings,etc) had a 70 % retention rate the first
year.... those that did not plug in had a 30 %
retention rate...
Leaders Plug in....
6) "Co-Dependency."
There is a reason why your application says
"Independent Distributor".... you are to become
independent from your sponsor.... but there are some
who have a co-dependency.....they depend on their
sponsor for success.... and depend on their Excuses to
not give it 100%.
They are "co-dependent" on the 2 things that they
should not be...yes, you lean on your sponsor at first
to learn this business, but you MUST get independent
quickly...why?
KILLER Secret:
You will never get a big paycheck depending on someone
else to create it for you.... The less dependent you
are on your upline, the more your paycheck will be due
to you downline..(CLUE!!!!)....
7) "Lack Of Success Expectancy"(LOSE)
What you expect to happen in this business
generally does...and a lot of people who come into
this business deep down inside expect it not to
work...and it doesn't.... they have never experienced
nor expected success in their life, and never
will...Expectancy is MAGNETIC! And if someone does
not expect to Succeed...they won't....
KILLER Secret:
The key word in Lack Of Success Expectancy is LACK.
that is their mindset, and will do this business
through that filter in their mind, and continue to
create lack in their life.....
When you focus on LACK.... You put a LOCK on the
door to success...
8) "Trying to Re-Invent the Wheel"
This one is a goodie.... happens all the time...folks
go out and try to figure out a "better" way to do
what already has been done, and end up going broke,
when they should have just taken the tools and ran
with them.....improvement is great....AFTER you have
mastered the basics and tools that your company
has....
I did this for a year...trying to get a 'better"
tape...a "better" brochure.... and I had some strong
ideas.... but was a novice in the industry.... did not
take me long to see I did not have the experience to
rewrite the script, so I embraced the tools that the
company had...and things exploded....I am just trying
to get you not to make the same mistake I did...
9) "Lack of Leadership Focus from the Upline."
Simply...you as a Leader must provide Leadership
to your group and create a growth and success
environment.... if you do not...you are setting your
group up to fail.... and they MUST have leadership in
the beginning because they are new.... you cannot do
this business FOR them, but you can do it WITH them
as a leader out in front.....
KILLER Secret:
Your Leadership is the North Star of your
group...leading the way...No North Star...No Compass
and Navigation...and lots of attrition.....
10) "Building the Wrong Thing"
As Leaders, you can spend a lot of time building
the wrong thing with your downline.... you can build
all the business you want, but if you are not building
your people's confidence, skills, and self esteem as
well...then you will have a very fragile business that
is built on sand.... People who are believed in and
encouraged and listened to...will stay longer with
you, become more successful, and will ride out any
storm with you by your side...been there done that....
KILLER Secret:
Build your PEOPLE FIRST... then the Business... then
if as storm comes along, the business will be resting
on a strong foundation... (CLUE!!!!!)

for your DOWNLINE!
While people are still listening to the network marketing
business presentation, before they've even agreed to join,
they begin to picture themselves as leaders--or at least
as people who will one day have followers. Success in
network marketing requires followers, either
representatives or customers or both.
So what is the best way to build those downline followers
once you join a company and begin attracting people? I
believe the best way to build a team is by first playing team
yourself; that is, working for the good of the group that isn't
your downline. Do what you'll want your downline to do when
you're the captain of 1000 or 10,000 distributors.
Another way to say it is, "The best way to be a good upline
is to be a good downline." Taking this posture allows you
to position yourself in your own mind as a leader from the
very beginning. You're not working your way up from the
bottom; you're starting at the top and building down. You
build down by building up.
Here are some pointers for achieving an ideal
downline by first being the ideal downline:
Show up
I'm not the first one to say that half of success in network
marketing is just showing up, but I will clarify that you must
show up consistently. Show up for all the events you want to
develop leadership in. By becoming the person your upline
can count on, you become the person your upline will count
on. Do I need to say "participate"? You get few, if any, points
for sitting in the back or holding back. Be both seen and
heard (humbly, don't take over!).
Pay up
When you're in a position to derive individual benefit from
your upline, such as personal coaching, pick up the tab. If
it's telephone coaching, you place the call or give your upline
your tollfree number. If you're meeting over coffee or lunch,
you pay--even though your upline could probably buy and sell
you several times over. If your upline comes in from out of
town, offer to drive them to the airport or around to their
appointments.
Bring up
Tell your downline everything your upline tells you about the
business. Don't assume your upline is working your group
for you, teaching your whole downline what they're teaching
you. Bring up notices of events, announcements, changes,
etc.
And bring up your downline to your upline; introduce them
one way or another as soon as possible. Help everyone
know everyone and keep the information exchange prompt,
clear and concise.
Talk up
Enhance your upline's image at every opportunity. Speak only
positive and do it as often as possible--to everyone: downline,
crossline, prospects and friends. Do the same about the
company, the products, the literature and company tools and
the events. Talk up each component in turn so that whatever
you're pointing out to your prospects or downline as the next
part of their process sounds like the most important thing on
earth.
Shut up
It is possible that even more can be accomplished by
knowing when not to talk than by knowing what to say when
you're talking. For the networking professional, there are
many opportunities not to talk. When you put your prospect
in contact with someone for a three-way call or meeting, after
a short, cordial, exhilarating introduction, shut up and let the
expert work. Don't undo all the edification you've done of your
upline by butting in, changing, correcting or adding to the
conversation. Ever. You can add anything that needs to be
added at a later time.
Hang up
Another good time not to talk is after your upline has just
answered a question for you or done some personal coaching.
Take it in, write it down, thank them once and get off the
phone or end the meeting. Let them get back to their busy
lives helping dozens like you as well as building their own
businesses. Make it a goal to end every conversation only
one time. This is almost a lost art. Yes, your time together is
sweet and you wish it could last forever. Cherish it by putting
into action what you've just learned, not by keeping your
upline engaged while you go over and over it, thanking them,
saying good-bye, telling them again why this will be so
valuable to you, saying good-bye, then asking another
question. Move on already! One ending.
Move up
Your growth will be almost automatic when you show up, pay
up, bring up, talk up, shut up and hang up consistently. You
still have the job of sponsoring, but you have your upline's
attention and that's the first step in getting their help. Secondly,
many of the people you sponsor will do just exactly as you're
doing. That will make them a joy to work with. You'll spend
very little time in training and management, thus saving your
strength for your real work of getting your message in front of
new people.
