Home Based Business Success - It's A Job Not A Hobby

Starting a home-based business is a superb way to mitigate the effects of the recession that is putting a stranglehold on the global economy. An ever-increasing number of people are already working from home or are considering it as jobs continue to evaporate and as money keeps getting tighter. Some of these people will realize unbridled success and make a boatload of money in the process. Others will fail miserably.

The reason is that a home based business is a professional enterprise - it's not a hobby.

Nevertheless, many new work-at-home entrepreneurs embark on their new business adventure with a completely inappropriate mindset. In short, they fail to appreciate the true challenges and requirements of working from home, and wind up not applying the necessary degree of serious effort to the endeavor.

Global Economic Crisis Underlines Importance of Network Marketing

The network marketing industry has attracted worldwide interest as a better money-making venture than fixed-income employment in light of the global financial crisis that causes the displacement of billions of people around the world. For 33 percent of all the new millionaires today, the much-needed push was believed provided by online selling of products and services for direct marketing companies as an increasing number of people finds that trying to live on a fixed income is one of the worst things to do in uncertain times like now.

Industry reports said the growing importance of network marketing shows in the 1 million people that conduct searches for business online each week and the 100,000 new websites that are built daily mostly for the same purpose. About 75,000 new people, on the other hand, subscribe to the Internet daily to enhance the business opportunity for independent online distributors of products from direct sales firms.

To become a successful distributor in this booming industry, the problems that may look daunting to the would-be entrepreneurs are access to alliance partner companies and compensation. Such partnership and a profitable compensation package, which are critical to success in this enterprise is The EDGE Marketing System.

Taking things seriously really DOES payoff!

Working from home is fun. It's a relaxing atmosphere-it is your home after all-and you can wear whatever you want. You don't have to commute to an office, so the day starts whenever you feel like starting it. Since your very own kitchen is just a few short steps away, you can grab a cup of coffee, a snack, a full meal, or maybe even a glass of wine whenever you feel like it.

Since nobody's looking over your shoulder, you can do exactly as you please, whenever you want to do it. Feeling drowsy? The couch is right there, so take a quick power nap. If you have children or pets, they'll love the fact that you're there for them and will periodically require your attention. So of course you'll oblige since that's one of the benefits you now enjoy. By around 3pm you feel like you've been working long enough, so you shut down the computer and call it a day. You're your own boss, and it feels good to make decisions like this.

And guess what. If you've had a productive day, if you got a lot done-if you've made money-you can do all of this. The problem is that many home based entrepreneurs spend their days doing all of the above except the money part. They fritter their time away, without really working. Sure, they might be sitting at the computer. But surfing the internet and IMming friends isn't working.

Take your home based business seriously. Find a system to follow, and in addition to solid training, find a mentor. It's tremendously beneficial to have someone who can give you a periodic reality check, and to make sure you're getting where you need-and want-to go.

Building An Online Business - The Lead Generation Engine

If mall space is so expensive, why do businesses go there? The answer is simple-traffic. Opening a store in the mall guarantees that the business has a steady flow of people walking by it. If that same store was located on a side road leading out of town, the volume of foot traffic would be greatly reduced.

Of course having a steady flow of traffic is not a guarantee of success, just as having a limited amount of traffic is not necessarily a guarantee of failure. Having people walk by your business does not mean that they will come inside. It simply means that they can at least see you, and make a decision from there. And just like the store on the road leading out of town, if people have heard good things about that business, they'll go there regardless of whether or not it's on the way.

Bricks-and-mortar entrepreneurs realize that in order to convince at least some of the traffic walking by their store, they need to create interest in their offerings. Even if it was located in the busiest mall in America, a store that had blacked out windows, no lit sign and that was dark and dingy inside would probably not do all that well. That's why retailers outdo themselves creating bright, flashy window displays and feature prominent signs touting their latest special offer or sale.

The key part of your online business success strategy

Your lead generation system!

Getting a potential customer inside the store is still only half the battle, however. Once they're inside, the real challenge begins-getting them to actually buy something. So if you have a business in the mall, think about the types of people that you'll encounter. There will be general mall traffic that just walks by your store and hardly even knows you're there. The window shoppers will slow down and look, but not come in. The shoppers will actually come in, but won't buy. And then the buyer, the lifeblood of any business, steps up and actually purchases something.

An online business faces the same challenges.

The enterprise must be able to stand out to the general traffic of the internet, and get window shoppers to not only take notice, but to get interested in what's being sold. It needs a lead generation engine that not only drives traffic to the website, but that actually draws shoppers in so they interact with the offer. A good lead generation program should take those shoppers far enough along the sales process to at least secure their e-mail address. And then the real challenge can begin-turning the shoppers into paying customers.
