A Fellow Journeyman%u2019s Review of Andy Andrew%u2019s %u201CThe Traveler%u2019s Gift%u201D

Taking a personal journey of self discovery, development, and improvement, this book was highly recommended to me by a good friend. I took them up on their challenge and obtained the book with no real expectations, only an open an inquisitive mind.

Let me start by saying I was immediately enthralled in the book, plot, and main character. Why? Because I had been in his shoes and could immediately relate to his personal plight. It doesn't matter what my experience was as we've all been in this position at some time in our lives.

"The Traveler's Gift" by, of all people, Andy Andrews and I say that with the greatest of respect, is a classic personal development parable and should be required reading for everyone asking the question, "why is this happening to me, why am I here?" Yes, I see you shaking your head up and down. You know exactly what I mean.

"The Traveler's Gift" is beautifully wrapped in an exquisite cover that attracts with the promise of adventure, excitement, revelations and great travels. There are 206 well written pages divided into 11 well proportioned chapters. You become so involved in the main character, his thinking, experiences, and encounters, you are not even aware if these chapters are long or short. They are just right.

Andy has created a wonderful drop back for sharing The Seven Decisions of Personal Success that will assist everyone in the understanding of success in their personal, spiritual, financial, and physical lives. At first you may say to yourself, after these seven decisions are revealed to you, "I knew that." Then, as you think more deeply about what they entail and how they are presented you will say, "No, I'm learning something new and important here. I better sit up and take notice."

I found I instinctively reached for and liberally utilized the day-glow yellow highlighter from my end table. The nuggets you will receive from this book will be personal and unique to each person and you must act to save them for future reference.

I'm sorry, but to divulge the exciting parts of this book to you now would be a disservice. The main character's life does not flash before his eyes but rather takes a wonderful journey throughout the ages meeting with exceptional characters who reveal the seven decisions, one at a time. Decisions he must remember, weave into his life, and take positive action to survive.

I have but one quote to share with you from this book. "There comes a time in every person's life when a decision is required. And that decision, should you make it, will have a far-reaching effect on generations yet unborn. There is a thin thread that weaves only from you to hundreds of thousands of lives. Your example, your actions, and yes, even one decision can literally change the world." ~ David Ponder

I leave you with this thought. When that time comes, and it will come in each of our lives, will you make that decision?

I highly recommend this book as I've learned a great deal, had a wonderful time experiencing the journey, and will practice the seven decisions daily from now on. Will you?

With Gratitude, Review of "Reaching for the Stars Without Losing Your Balance" by Win Davis

Learn the "How To's" in getting your life's vision and purpose together and keeping it balanced at the same time.

WOW! I just finished reading this book. At first I wanted to determine who this book would best serve. The answer is everybody! My second objective was to find an excellent quote from the book that would be a great example of what the book is about and represents. I realized I would have to rewrite the book as it is ALL good and I am not able to narrow the subject down to a simple sound (word) bite.

This is a new book, described by Win himself as "by pigeon holing it as self-help, psychological, spiritual, whatever, would be hypocritical." This book is destined to become one of the great classics of this time. The message is applicable to anyone wishing to refocus their life, determine their true passions and what excites them about life, and especially "how to" accomplish all of this all in one well written book. "Reach for the Stars Without Losing Your Balance" is 190 pages in length, Win Davis' style of writing is very easy and quick to read as you feel like he is sitting across the table from you sharing all of his life's experiences and garnered knowledge as a result. The contents include a "Pre-Ramble," seven chapters, and a "Post-Ramble." I love the practical and simple to execute exercises that actually clarifies, crystallize, and focus you on your true goals, passions, and priorities in life with actual examples and easy to copy formatted tools.

This is not a "here, just do what I say" book and you will be successful in all areas of your life. Win's book shares with you the steps to progress through effectively establishing a purpose driven, visionary statement that you can live by on a daily basis. I found this analogy very revealing as the primary pretext of the entire book in a quote from Win's daughter, Andrea, at age five. "Well, Daddy, before your seeds will grow, you have to take them out of the pack." The "seeds" are referring to the many aspects of your life as you will learn in reading through the book.

I could not help but feel very strongly the best people to benefit from reading this book would be all people in the midst of having to refocus their life in these changing times, entrepreneurs new and experienced, everyone in the network marketing, multilevel marketing, and direct sales industries, and all new people starting out in these areas. I plan on giving a copy of this great book to all of my new associates to establish a great foundation for their new life.

Please bear with me as I write this profound but spot on quote from page 176 that hits home with me, being involved in the above industries and as an entrepreneur. We all strive for the "lifestyle."

"Lifestyle? Isn't one of the reasons you're reaching for your star is that you want to change your lifestyle as well as change your life? I'm not just talking about making money here. I'm talking about separating yourself from all the "wannabes" and "gonna-dos." A satisfying lifestyle isn't necessarily about living in the "right" neighborhood or driving an expensive car. It's about driving yourself to be the best you can be and making a living and a life doing what you really enjoy."

With that, my friends, I leave you to take the journey, expand your horizons, learn from Win Davis' experiences he so freely shares with you and above all else, "Reach for the Stars Without Losing Your Balance."

Life's Instructions, Review of "The GO-GIVER" by Bob Burg & John David Mann

People are always searching for the "Secrets" to successes in life and business. Well, here they are for the taking!

I have the privilege of just finishing the outstanding book, "The GO - GIVER" and can not even begin to share with you the immense value of this book and its potential effect on your life. People are always looking for an instruction book on life and I propose this is one of those valued and sought after books. If you're not dumbfounded by the insight and simplicity of the message contained in this book then you need to read it again, uninterrupted.

This book is written in the same manner as the world famous book by John Milton Fogg, "The Greatest Networker in the World." You have the distinct feeling that you are a fly on the wall of the man, Joe, who is on his journey of self discovery far beyond what he anticipated or even knew what he was searching for in life.

The book is jacketed in a brilliant red cover embossed with a beautiful gold image of Mercury of Greek Mythology. There are 131 pages and you must read the inside jacket of the covers as well as the acknowledgments on the last page. Every page is a joy to experience in this quick read book of life's true secrets to success.

I am not able to divulge much about this book and any iota of information on the subject matter may give away a very important aspect of this book's content and quite possibly ruin some aspect of reading it for you. I know I would not want one to do that to me either in book or movie. This is a book that must be experienced as its impact will be unique to each reader and can not be broad brushed to all of the public.

The ultimate success of this book is based upon the presentation of the subject material, the plot to which it is encompassed, and the truths that are revealed throughout its cover. This is a book that must be read, I would suggest at least twice, and ironically would not translate into a good movie as I believe many of the key points revealed to us would be overlooked or missed completely in its presentation.

No, this is a book best read in one sitting, if possible, undisturbed, either very early in the morning or late at night for the full impact. I highly recommend this book and would also suggest it be given to teenagers in high school, college students, and all new employees and entrepreneurs. Buy it for yourself, share it with others as a gift, and enjoy the whole experience.

How to Read a Self-Improvement Book

I know. You already know how to read a book. But the question really is, do you? I too was surprised to learn that there are specific ways to read different books. What an enlightening moment of revelation. I have taken the liberty here to quote a very informative source on how to specifically read self-improvement books. Read, learn, understand, and apply.

The information provided below can be found in more detail reading "Success Through a Positive Mental Attitude" by W. Clement Stone and Napoleon Hill.

There is an art to reading a self-help book. When you read, concentrate. Read as if the author were a close personal friend and were writing to you - and you alone.

Determine what you are looking for before you read a self-help book. If you know what you are looking for you are more apt to find it than if you don't have a specific purpose. If you really want to recognize, relate, assimilate, and apply success principles that are contained between the covers of an inspirational book, you must work at it. A self-help book is not to be skimmed through the same way that you might read novel.

In "How to Read a Book" by Mortimer J. Adler, suggests you follow this abbreviated pattern:

Step A. Read for general content. This is the first reading. It should be fast reading, to grasp the sweeping flow of thought that the book contains.

Step B. Read for particular emphasis. A second reading is for the purpose of assimilating specific details.

Step C. Read for the future. This third reading is more of a memory feat than it is a reading task. Literally memorize passages that have a particular meaning to you.

Step D. Read - later - to refresh your memory, and to rekindle your inspiration. All of us may become discouraged. We should re-read the best of our books at such times to rekindle the fires that got us going in the first place.

I know this appears very simple and almost common sense, however, this information opened my eyes as to how to maximize my time and energy while reading self-improvement books, which I do all of the time. I would also strongly suggest that you try and find books in paperback and use a bright yellow highlighter liberally for further emphasis and later referral.

I hope you have found this article interesting and informative. To delve into more specifics on this subject I would direct you to read both Mortimer J. Adler's book, "How to Read a Book" and "Success Through a Positive Mental Attitude," by W. Clement Stone and Napoleon Hill.

My Success with Liberty League International

You too can experience such success.

This is an update on my growth and success so far with my direct sales business in Liberty League International (LLI). I started a serious personal development journey with the receipt of my Beyond Freedom multimedia training course from Liberty League. Beyond Freedom is the initial and premier product provided through LLI and well worth the investment if you are serious about making positive changes in your life. Beyond Freedom allowed me to let go of my limiting beliefs and past mental baggage that were all holding me back from reaching the goals and success I knew I deserved in life.

I have a fantastic Mentor and Summit Advisor who is also a valued friend. Tony Rush is "the real thing" when it comes to a person who as been there, done that, and successfully worked his way out of it. In only three and a half years with LLI Tony has come from living in a cinder block home with no money to pay for heat, using a wood stove, and working for only $7.00 an hour as a clerk in a chain bookstore, to making more money in a month than most people make in a year. He has become a cherished friend over the years that I've known him. Tony provides great, serious, and sincere support, training, and team leadership; talked up a lot in the industry but rarely found in reality.

After working very hard with little results, Tony and I had a deep and serious conversation about what was holding me back from my well deserved success. As a direct result of that discussion I made a decisive decision to move forward and do whatever it takes all the while "being" the leader and owner of my own life and business. What a dramatic change in my life. Within a period of four days after that discussion I made two sales of Beyond Freedom for a profit of $1,000.00 each and became Beyond Freedom qualified as an Advisor.

The LLI business is very simple and anyone may be successful by only applying the simple three step system. Here are the three steps:

1) Generate leads
2) Invite to and book a business presentation call
3) Follow up with a 3-way call and collect a decision

That's it! I've learned not to make this business more complicated than it needs to be and I'm famous for that in my life. After a qualified prospect goes through the above three steps they either "get it" or they don't. No selling, convincing, manipulating, or pressure. Just collect a simple decision. Anyone can do this business and be successful.

This was a very enlightening and exciting experience for me. I experienced the total support of other Summit Advisors in reaching my goals. Never, in all of the years trying to work MLM and network marketing, have I had such immediate and profitable success. This caused me to have a tremendous feeling of release from the old mental baggage and the application of what I've learned on my personal development journey.

I believe if you have read this entire article you too may be interested in experiencing what I have with LLI. Get in touch with me on my private line: 804-741-5714 before 9 PM Eastern Time, or by email: csmattice@comcast.net. I will be happy to have a quick 4-5 minute conversation with you and determine if you would like to go to the next step.

The Secret to Writing worthy Goals in Life

After having a very enlightening and insightful discussion and training with my mentor, I finally struck upon the best and most effective way to establish and write personal goals. I know you may have read how to develop and write goals many times but this is the most unique and functional method I have ever run across.

Let me start by saying, what do you really want out of life? I know that sounds like an overwhelming and loaded question, but it can be dealt with if you simply break the components down into workable elements.

I found that I really like the SMART system. It is a proven method of defining and developing goals. Use these guidelines to identify and write your goals.

S - Specific: M - Measurable: A - Attainable: R - Relevant: T - Timetable-able:

I'm sure you can already tell where I'm going with this but bear with me and I will walk you through an explanation and you will quickly see the simple steps involved in writing goals.

Specific - Identify your precise why. Your why is a primary motivator in your quest to obtain your worthwhile goals. It is what you are passionate about. It may be financial, spiritual, health, material, etc. For example, if your goal is financial, what "exact amount" do you want to earn and, most importantly, what will it provide? I learned the hard way when I first developed my goals; I actually had no specific financial amount listed. Thus, it begs the question, how much did I wish to achieve? If your goal has to do with weight reduction, "how much" do you wish to take off and what size will you wear? The more specific you are the better your mind will be able to grasp the concept and achieve your goal. If you're goal is to buy a car--know the color, make, model, options and all the details of the exact car you want. Take time to visualize having achieved what you desire. How do you feel now that you have achieved your goal? Get emotionally involved with the result. Your mind, meaning specifically your subconscious, will believe whatever you tell it real and imagined. It can't tell the difference, nor does it care. Goals can only be accomplished when coupled with serious emotional feeling. Your subconscious does not speak a language it communicates by emotions, feelings, and the senses.

Measurable - Identify your marker--how will you know you are moving in the right direction? Set a specific date for your accomplishment and reinforce it within your subconscious as being true and attainable. Your goal must be measurable. Saying "I want to be out of debt" definitely isn't going to get you the results you want. Saying, "I will earn $50K by September 1, 2008" is far more positive. The result, of course, will be that you are out of debt as well.

Attainable - You must believe that you are able to achieve your goal. However, the farther you reach the farther you will go. It may seem somewhat unrealistic to you now, but it shouldn't seem insurmountable. You must stretch your comfort zone and when you become more comfortable, stretch it again, and continue.

Relevant - Your goal should be something you are passionate about. You should be emotionally involved with your goal. Remember how your subconscious works? Feelings, senses, and emotions are what it really understands. If you are married or have a partner, each person should have their own goals, ones that are personal to you that you desire to achieve. Relevant personal goals must be just that, personal to you with no concern to other people.

Timetable - able - Your goals should have an expected date of completion. This is usually an educated guess. Obviously none of us can really see our future and that is probably a good thing. We must set doable time restraints upon our goals and actions. Keep in mind that work expands to fill the time allowed for it! If you want $1,000 by the end of the week, state it with conviction that you desire $1,000 by Friday, the 5th of August.

Once you have set your goals, spend time daily reflecting on them. I would suggest reading them a minimum of three times a day. When you first wake up in the morning, at lunch, and just before you go to bed in the evening. Write them onto your goal cards, three by five cards are the best, and carry them with you everywhere. Identify what actions are necessary to take on a daily and weekly basis to achieve your goals. Keep in mind however, the difference between a task and action you must take, and an actual end result goal. In addition, identify what actions you currently are taking that are NOT in alignment with achieving your goals (ex: TV & video games). Follow through with consistent, focused action. When you have goals you are emotionally involved causing feelings, using the senses, and are passionate about, taking action will be easy.

In summary I must express my appreciation to my mentor, Liberty League International, and the Beyond Freedom Program for opening up this area of my life and having it all make sense. By use of the above information I was able to develop reachable, emotional, and fun goals for myself from a daily basis out to six months. I'm still working on the long term goals and working backwards. Working backwards? Well, that's a subject for another article.

SQUIRRELS, NUTS, NETWORK MARKETING AND MLM

Funny how things appear in nature that we can relate too

Strange title I know but I want to get you thinking about this. Have you ever "really" watched squirrels and what they do day in and day out? Well, it's actually quite interesting. At least I think so.

Squirrels seem to have a genetically innate sense of what to do in life. They get up early in the morning and until dusk they are out foraging for nuts. Not unlike those of us in Network Marketing and MLM. We too are always looking for the quality "nuts" available to us.

Oh! You say. But squirrels don't have to deal with rejection like we do. To that I say ah ha! But they do experience rejection. How many times have you watched a squirrel foraging around in your yard, hopping from one place to another, and always digging their little holes? They are of the positive mental attitude that they will always find a nut in just the next hole.

Watching the squirrels you will see them dig their little holes, stick their fuzzy little nose in the ground and come up with..........nothing! What do they do? The same thing we do when prospecting. They disregard the outcome and move on, optimistically; to the next hole they will dig. OK Craig! What about rejection after talking with a prospect?

Well I'll tell you. Many times the squirrel will actually find a nut in the ground, probably buried by themselves earlier or by another squirrel. They pull the nut out all excitedly, sniff it a few time, chew on it a little bit and realize................this nut is no good anymore. Blah! Been in the ground too long!

Now that is real rejection from the squirrel's point of view. All of that work hunting, digging, sniffing, and chewing, for what, a smelly no good rotten nut. Bummer!

We are not unlike the experience of the squirrel in Network Marketing and MLM. Always searching, prospecting in our many ways, only to talk to a promising prospect/lead and they won't answer our next phone call or email. They just disappear into the "Prospect Protection Program."

How many holes does a squirrel have to dig to find a "good" nut? I don't know. I do know they don't whine; go back to their nest and quite. They just keep on going, day in and day out, constantly looking for that "good" nut.

Our outlook should be as positive and optimistic as the squirrels in your own yard. Day in and day out we should prospect and talk to leads. Examine each as and unique individual and determine if they are a "good" nut or "bad" nut. And keep taking positive forward action.

As with the squirrels, we will even need to place nuts and prospects back on the follow through list as they're not ready for what we are looking for in a "good nut." So the next time you're prospecting or calling leads, think of your neighborhood squirrel and don't quite.
