Artist and Writer

I am professional artist and writer, I use Squidoo to promote my professional work - but I also enjoy writing lenses about my hobbies - such as shopping for coloring books!

"*DOING A HAPPY DANCE*
I'M A GIANT SQUID!!
THANK YOU!!"

I've got a new lens and I'm so proud...

My newest lens is:
Currier and Ives Art Prints sharing my passion for these wonderful vintage works of art and all the collectibles they have inspired.

My Newest Ten Lenses

Since I've become a Giant Squid, I've gone new lens crazy. Sometimes I do two or three in a day. So the "I've got a new lens" feature really isn't fair to my new lenses. In response to a challenge at SquidU - but also because it's a good idea - here's a lens that lists my ten newest lenses.

My Most Popular Lens

this week anyway

The coloring books for older kids and adults is almost a permanent fixture at the top. Here we are in the first week of December and the Thanksgiving coloring pages are hanging in there, but Free Printable Christmas coloring pages is coming up on the outside!

My Least Popular Lens

this week

I guess nobody is rushing out to buy me any coloring books for Christmas - woe is me. LOL.

I just read the best lens!

And I want to share it with you

It seems like I can't go a day any more without reading a fantastic lens by somebody that I'm dying to share with the world. Here's the latest!

I am a writer

I love to read, and I love to write. I have written just about everything - nonfiction, fiction, reviews, even letters to the editor. And, of course, Squidoo lenses.

In January of 2009 my novel, The River Way, was published. I'm really proud of it. I devoted a whole lens to it!

I love to blog, too. At one time I had 13 of them devoted to various subjects, including showcasing my fiction. But at the moment, I am just writing for one personal blog, Foovay's Cauldron.

I survived the 3 Day Novel event over Labor Day weekend 2009. The resulting novel, "Hunters of Men" has gone off to the judges even though I didn't really feel like it was done. I finished it up in October - just in time to write "Hunters 2" for Nanowrimo. I didn't win Nano, but I am well on my way through the second Hunters of Men novel.

Meanwhile, I hope to get some of my fiction blogs going.

To read more of my work, and more about my projects, publications and future plans - check out these lenses - and my blogs!

Do you love the fey folk?

I love everything about the fey - fairy tales, fun fairy collectibles, fairy art. So I set up this blog at Demented-Pixie.com to share my original fairy tales, my original fairy art, fairy lore and information, and links to other fun fairy stuff on the web.

A recommendation

If you use WordPress blogs and Twitter

I just wanted to pass this one. It's free and it's a nifty little tool to get your Wordpress blog and your Twitter accounts working together. It installs like any plug-in, just upload it into the plug-in folder and set it up. Easy peasy. Then every time you post a new blog entry, it automatically tweets it. It also adds a widget so that your tweets show up on your blog. Cool, huh?

I am an artist

digital art, free clip art, coloring pages or line art

Even though I am an artist and a writer - I don't write about art. Not very much anyway. I leave that to my friend Robert A. Sloan who writes these great how to articles.

That said, my lens Line Art on the Internet has been one of my most popular lenses ever since I joined Squidoo, I wrote it to tell the story of my line art or free printable coloring pages website - Color-Your-Own.com

I do line art for love and pleasure.

My lifelong love of horses, and my new found love for New Mexico, her wildlife, sky, and landscapes has led me into some new areas with my work. I am learning about creating southwestern and western landscapes, skyscapes, and wildlife and equine paintings. I consider the work I am doing now a learning experience - so I am not putting it up for sale. You can see what I am working on sometimes, at my Flickr account.

I also have a Zazzle store which features my art on greeting cards, postage and other items. Greyhounds and pagan holidays are the main subjects right now.

Recently, I have been working hard to get my free clip art website back on line, and adding new free clip art. I've written a lens about it, of course.

My Coloring Pages and Coloring Books lenses

From the humble beginning of Color-Your-Own.com and my lens to promote it on Squidoo - Line Art on the Internet my obsession with free printable coloring pages (both my own and the wonderful line art offered by others), and coloring books on the Internet has grown and grown. It seems like I cannot get through a week any more without adding another lens for coloring books or coloring pages - and I also have a group so I can share everyone elses as well as my own. Here's the current list of all of my coloring book and coloring pages lenses:

New Addition - The Coloring Book Store despite it's name this lens is actually a one stop list of all of my coloring book lenses on Squidoo. I plan to do another one stop lens for all the coloring page lenses soon. There's just getting to be so many it will be much simpler this way - I think!

I love animals

All species of animals, pets, domestic, and wild!

One thing you can't help but notice about me is that I love animals. It's rare that I do not have a dog at my feet, and a cat in my lap. Not uncommon for me to have a horse following me around, or a hummingbird at the window to remind me their feeder is empty. Yes, I do love all the Gods and Goddess' creatures.

When I'm not with animals - I am drawing them, or writing about them.

Naturally, that is reflected in the contents of many of my lenses. Like these:

Most of these lenses give all or part of their income to an animal charity. Some of those articles overlap into my other interests - environmentalism, myth, paganism - but then, I think all things are related.

I'm Green

One of those vegetarian, animal rights, environmentally aware, alternative energy type people

It's true - I was "green" before they called it "green". I've been recycling since back when you had to work really hard at finding someone who would TAKE your glass and aluminum (never mind plastic). I lived in a city for five years and never owned a car - rode my bike everywhere including back and forth to work. I became vegetarian over 20 years ago. So you will find "greenie" and vegetarian lenses among my collection, too. Like these:

Overlapping

So there is going to be some overlapping in my lists of lenses, I just can't help it!

Spiritual, but not religious

You can call me Pagan

solstice sunsset
I am very spiritual, but not particularily attached to any one religion. I believe all gods (and goddesses) are one, the spirit of love. Love, Gratitude, and Service are the important things in this life.

For many years now I have considered myself a solitary, eclectic neopagan. The information I share with you here is gathered and distilled from books, articles, other webpages, other Pagans, meditations, visionary journeys, and listening to my inner voice. I am not a prophetess, priestess, or the direct channeled voice of the Goddess, nor do I wish for anyone to place me on such a pedestal.

I'm afraid of heights.

But most of all, I think there is too much of that sort of posturing in Paganism these days.

This is how I celebrate and live my religion. These are the reasons why. That is what I want to share with you. You may find a grain of wisdom or truth or just the right ritual to suit you here, and put it to use in your own life. You might not. And that doesn't mean that either of us is right, or wrong, but that what is right for me may or may not be right for you, and visa versa.

It's important to remember to dance

and that we are all one

Almost every Monday, I post a new "happy dance" video to my blog, Foovay's Cauldron. Here is one of my all time favorites.

Where the Hell is Matt? (2008)

14 months in the making, 42 countries, and a cast of thousands. Thanks to everyone who danced with me. Make sure to click "watch in HD" right underneath the video. http://www.wherethehellismatt.com http://www.stridegum.com

I love to dance, and I love music

I've thus far resisted doing any lenses on music or entertainment, because I feel like there are so many people who are so much more knowledgeable at those things than I am. But. I did one for fun - and now I have more planned. See how this goes?

Yes, the photo is really me - many moons ago

There's more

I have an insatiable sense of curiosity and I love to learn. The more I learn, the more I want to share with others. So there's all these lenses on...other stuff.
Molly Pitcher, Revolutionary War Hero
One of the first women heros of our country
William KamKwamba - the boy who captured the wind
A young man I have great admiration for and think you should know.

I sell stuff on eBay, too

Actually, most of what I will be selling are my duplicate Bella Sara cards - so I can donate some of the money to charity, and run off with the rest to buy...you guessed it...more Bella Sara cards. One of these days I'm going to have to do a lens about them. Meanwhile, heres the ones I have for sale. Oh - and now and then you might even find a bit of my original artwork there, too.
