Everyone loves the summer months. Going outside, relaxing, swimming and what ever else you feel like doing. Although summer can be a fun and joyous time, there are still risks involved with such events. Below you will find a few tricks and tips used to keep both yourself and family safe. Although this is a funny version of summer safety, the tales told can be true. Make sure you pay attention to this one and have a laugh while your at it. These kids on this video crack me up. Kind of reminds me of certain local news channels around here.

Random Safety Tip #1

Remember that children should not use lawn mowers until they are of age. According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, children under the age of 16 should not be allowed to use riding mowers and children under the age of 12 should not be allowed to use push mowers.

Make sure you always teach your kids how to recognize poison ivy and other poisonous plants.

Make sure your kids wear protective gear while riding a skateboard and or scooter. I know these are monotonous but keep your kids safe for goodness sake.

Summer Safety Tip #5

For Young Children

Make sure your putting sunscreen on your children at least 30 minutes before they go outside. You have to let that stuff soak in. Don't forget to apply the sunscreen on cloudy days. Just because its cloudy doesn't mean it's not sunny. The SPF should be at least 15 and protect against UVA and UVB rays.
