Sunfishography -A Lensography

All kidding aside, I wanted to create a Lensography to keep track of allllll the wonderful, informative, entertaining, GRRrreat, and Must-See lenses I have done, am doing, and will do in the near and distant future (ok, obviously the future ones are not here yet).

And yes, at this time that number is still relatively small, and what better time to get organized, while it is still manageable?

Do enjoy your visit. This page will grow. You heard it right here, right now, on this very page. Please mark the time and date.

LIKE me on FaceBook: RiverbyNight

Publishing my own comic books is a dream and a reality, which I do under my personal label River by Night.

I have enough stories in sketch books to fill my personal library, though often run a bit short on time -that annoying thing called j.o.b...

Personal Book Lenses

Self published under River by Night label

It was bound to happen. When one is raised on a steady diet of books and stories filled with beautiful, wonderful images, it is only fitting that consequences should insue... i.e. dreaming of publishing one's own stories.

Ha! Sure enough. Here is the collection so far.

Comic Book Lenses

European & Independent specifically

I lovelovelove comic books, especially the independent and European kind. I grew up reading Tintin, Asterix, Blueberry, Lucky Luke and the likes, and am very grateful to have been introduced to such wonders at an early age.

Understanding Comics

by Scott McCloud

Understanding Comics: The Invisible Art

Amazon Price: $8.00 (as of 06/04/2012)Buy Now

Scott McCloud is a genius at understanding and explaining the many subtle aspects in the genre.

This book is also a tour-de-force as it explains comics in a comic format. This is the first of 3 books, each going a little deeper into it's own focus. Though they can be read out of turn, this first is great for anyone remotedly interested in understanding what all the noise is about.

Random Trivia: A Vegetarian Journey

Just the fact, ma'am...

I became vegetarian in 1997 for health reasons, then naturally progressed to a vegan diet.
On July 1st, 2001, I made the leap to raw vegan, which I followed for about 5 years, before setting into 75-80% raw.

A Green Revolution

Changing the world, one salad at a time

Green for Life

Amazon Price: $6.15 (as of 06/04/2012)Buy Now

This book single-handedly revolutionized not only the raw-vegan world, but the mass general consciousness as well. It brought to awareness the importance of green for our health and well being. It highlighted the extreme importance diet plays in our lives and how connected we are to our food source and the environment.

Victoria Bountenko and her family are extraordinary for what they have overcome in terms of illness, and how much they have and continue to contribute to the world.

A must read, whether you are a meat eater, vegetarian, vegan, raw, or anywhere on the scale.
Highly Recommended. 2 thumbs up.

Food Lenses

Featuring some of my favorite foods

Fresh food and greens probably account for approximately 90 % of my diet, so any lens in this section will most likely be in either or both of these categories.

Environment Lenses

things we can do

The plight of the environment is our own as well. We are intrinsically connected, a fact unfortunately too often forgotten... the result of which is all around us.

There are small things we can do in our everyday life that do make a difference.

Architecture & Shelter Lenses

Particularly the earth & people friendly kind

I am fascinated with ways people find to include the ancient wisdom of shelters with new technologies to create better, healthier, and at times, self-sustaining new housing.
Loading

Transportation Lenses

How people get from here to there and back (or not)

So much in store for this category. Transportation is as old as the world, so be warned.

Travel Adventures In Real Life

To those who go and do the things we only dream of

There are plenty of folks who know how to live fully, and through whom we can vicariously enjoy the highs and lows from the comfort -and safety- or our home. This section is a salute to these men, women, and children.

Random Trivia: Ubi bene, ibi patria

"Where one feels good, there is one's home"

People I meet often ask where I'm from. Because I get tired of the question, I let them guess. The most common answer is New Zealand or South Africa, neither being the right continent.

Hope I got your question right and that this helps. I had to ask too when I started.
