Squidoo's Summer Sunshine Award for Charity

We're giving away $99 a day to charity, $99 a day in cash

It's summer (or close enough) and we at Squidoo always enjoy a good celebration and good causes. That's why this summer, for 60 days, we're giving away $99 a day to benefit charities.

But that's not all.

The lensmaster will receive $99 too. One winning lensmaster a day, every day for 60 days, will get $99.

Finally: A way to do good AND get a little kickback for yourself too.

That's right. Build a brand new lens on a topic of your choice, set the earnings to benefit your favorite Squidoo charity partner, and if you win, you AND the charity of your choice will receive $99. Cash. Easy. Start now.

This is an official contest supported by Squidoo. Don't miss out!

The Rules

  1. Build a new lens after May 1st, 2010 and mark your money settings to benefit one of Squidoo's partner charities. One charity, 100%.
  2. Nominate a lens at this form. Could be your own lens, could be someone else's. Make sure the lens is definitely earmarked to charity.
  3. Every weekday from June 7th through August 27th, we'll select one charity-benefiting lens to receive the Squidoo Summer Sunshine Award.
  4. The lensmaster who built the lens will receive $99!!
  5. AND the charity partner the lens benefits will receive $99.
  6. (If the winning lensmaster wishes, they can donate the $99 to the charity their lens benefits, thereby doubling the winnings for that charity. Write to kimberly@squidoo.com within three days of winning.)
  7. The more people who nominate your lens, the greater the chances of winning.
  8. Charities! Earn double by building your own charity-benefiting lenses. If they're chosen, you'll receive the whole $198!
  9. Flooding the email with nominations from the same person/address or changing the charity directives will result in the lens being disqualified. We're all here for a good cause. Just play fair.

Nominate a lens at this form.

Which are you more excited about?

This contest allows both the lensmasters AND the charities to benefit from building great lenses.

Which side are you rooting for?

I am doing this one for the community.

sharingtruths says:

Good all around. I suspect though, that specific amount and what it meant will be more significant to a lensmaster, for example, ten years from now. That that it necessarily a better purpose there, just a matter of the politics of scale.

Now days, we often see the reality like this:
" indeed the heart to say sorry but refused to give his hand". It is no use if a sense of care for others just a collection of words without any meaningful action to make it happen.

I really have grown to respect Squidoo for supporting charities and doing events like this that can potentially raise a LOT of money for a charity. I could use profit myself, but I'm more excited to see that Squidoo and other people are willing to dedicate their time and resources to help others make their lives better. If only we could get the whole world to participate...

RosalieBeersbubbles2525 says:

who every gets it wins!!!!!!!! good luck to both

kelmel17 says:

Tough, tough call. While I think rewarding the lensmasters is great, I have to root for the charities this time - especially Dolphin Communication Project! Check out their Sharks and Dolphins lens!

PREDICT! Which charity will receive the most donations?

Just for fun

We know there are some really active charities out there who work hard to maintain contact with their volunteers. When it's time to put the word out, they know how to activate those lensmasters. Can they pull it off this time? Which charity will come out on top?

My prediction

I think it will be a close call between a few of our current most active charities!
