Mary Valley Heritage Railway
"The Valley Rattler" steam heritage tours are operated by The Mary Valley Heritage Railway (MVHR) every Saturday, Sunday and Wednesdays.

Tours depart from the historic Gympie Railway station and the destination varies according to the day of operation.

The "Red Rocket" Heritage Railmotor operates every Tuesday morning.

58km Great Walk through the Blackall Range, includes warm subtropical rainforest, tall open eucalypt forest and picturesque waterfalls. Half-day strolls or full-day walks. Stay longer to complete the total walk (allow 4-6 days).

Natural features include Obi Obi Creek and Narrows Gorge, Kondalilla Falls, Baxter Creek, the breathtaking lookout at Mapleton Falls, Gheerulla Creek and Gheerulla Falls.

Fraser Island
Day trip or over-night to World Heritage-listed Fraser Island from Hervey Bay, north of Noosa.
Noosa National Park
Spectacular coastal scenery and provides an important refuge for native wildlife including the koala, glossy black cockatoo, ground parrot and wallum froglet. Famous walk from Noosa Heads through the headlands features frequent koala sightings (just look for people pointing up to a tree).
Mt Coolum National Park
A rough 800m trail on the eastern side of the mountain leads from a carpark to the summit. Only fit walkers should attempt the climb. Allow about two hours for the return hike.
Teewantin State Forest and Forest Reserve
Have a picnic among coastal she-oaks and bloodwood trees at Wooroi day use area, just a few kilometres west of Tewantin. Enjoy a 30-minute walk through the cabbage palm forest along Wooroi Creek. A sealed 130m track at Mt Tinbeerwah provides wheelchair access to a lookout over the coast.
