Supawan Green's Profile

Supawan Green, a Thai-Chinese, born in 1954 in Bangkok, who graduated with an Honours degree in Sociology at Thammasat University, Bangkok, Thailand in 1975. She has always been an active participant in Buddhism since her student years and has practiced as an ordained nun for 3 months in the northern Thai province of Payao and spent a further 3 months alone in a cave doing meditation.

In 1978, Supawan Green worked as a patient councilor for nearly 2 years at the Bangkok General Hospital, where she visited patients and guided them to do meditation - easing off their worries and mental pain over their illnesses. Under the umbrella of the UNHCR, she then worked as a social worker in various refugee camps: working with unaccompanied minors in a Cambodian refugee camp, the Vietnamese Boat people and the Mong refugees.

In 1981, she moved to England after being married to her British husband whom she met in the Cambodian refugee camp and soon after became a mother of her 3 sons. Despite her young family commitment, she continues to contribute her spiritual knowledge through her writings and by teaching tai chi and meditation at the University of Birmingham so that she could share her dhamma experience from a layperson's point of view.

Currently Supawan Green is a renowned dhamma author of 18 published books in both Thai and English. A few of her Thai books,
especially the Thai version of Einstein Questions, Buddha Answers, have become bestsellers over the past 2 years in Thailand.

Her latest published books are
The User Guide to Life:The Moral Diet
and
The User Guide to Life: The Law of Karma

that cover a wide range of day to day life issues for which most people cannot find the answers. Some of her works have been translated into
French, Japanese and the Chinese version is in the process of being translated.

Besides writing, Supawan also gives talks and conducts retreats that comprise of meditation by using tai chi movements as a nonreligious

means to raise individual self-awareness. She is also well known for her unique way of teaching: the ability to simplify
the profound dhamma with clear illustration into the much easier concepts for modern people. This has helped her students to understand

the true purpose of life and attain their inner peace. She has been teaching for the past 18 years in various venues such as: universities, temples and holiday resorts both in the U.K, Thailand and further a field such as Singapore and Cameroon.

Locating the Sixth Sense

Bringing Mental self back home

Vipassana(in-sight meditation), according to Supawan, means sighting the impermanent nature of our thoughts, memories and feelings (Jerry). This is the one and only science of Buddhism as it involves 'an observer' (a sense, the 6th sense) and 'an observed' (a sense object). 'Bringing mental self back home' is Supawan's own coinage which aims to simplify vipassana and give easy access to people from all walks of life.

Her teachings are the direct result of her own experience of over 30 years. This allows her to offer many 'shortcuts' to her students.

These are the feedback from her students:

"May Those Who Help The Most Win Project 10 to the 100th"

Supawan's Taichi Qigong

Birmingham, ENGLAND ,18 JULY 2009

May Those Who Help The Most Win

Project 10 to the 100th is a call for ideas to change the world by helping as many people as possible, launched by Google.

As soon as this project was on the internet, a few students of mine emailed me right away and asked me to consider sending the application. I told myself, why not, give it a go at least. My wish might be granted. All I want to do with my life is to help as many people as possible for them to be freed from this epic prison of life (samsara).

If you agree with my idea and what I have been doing so far, please kindly support me with your votes and give me the chance to help many more people in this increasingly troubled world.>>

Thank you.

A NEW HOPE FOR MANKIND

This is not an ideology; it is a realistic approach
and very much possible.
We can make it happen, right here, and right now!

Supawan Green's Formula for World Peace is :
A = X+Y+Z .

A = World Peace

X = Inner peace for all women results from bringing the mental self back home.

Y = Inner peace for all men results from bringing the mental self back home.
Z = Morality for all women and men results from bringing the mental self back home.

World Peace is the accumulation of all the individuals' inner peace put together.

If this mental skill can be practiced by most individuals in the world,
this simple formula will bring instant peace and harmony to humankind.

A=X+Y+Z The Formula for World Peace(Thai)
Life just like riding a bicycle, to keep it balance, you must keep on going....
A=X+Y+Z The Formula for World Peace
Hanging around at Dallas - Fort Worth airport in Texas before catching a flight to Portland, Oregon for my first teaching debut in the US, I spotted a huge volume of books with Albert Einstein on the front covers. I picked one up, browsed through and saw a quote of the world physicist saying:

"Life just like riding a bicycle, to keep it balance, you must keep on going." ...
Finding the true self
I thought I would put on the BBC news 24 just to find out what other madness have had happened...
Seeking protection from vipassana
I heard all kinds of story about the miracle and the immunity of some sacred amulets...
Psychic ability
I remember you mentioned before that you saw my aura. Plus all your new experiences,...
The final frontier
If you were a Star Trek fan, you would know that was the title of this famous science fiction series. I've been a fan of Star Trek since the beginning...
Vipassana can revive Christianity
I strongly believe that vipassana will help to revive Christianity and make the resurrection comes true in the symbolic sense...
Locating Sixth Sense
You have been in my mind all morning . I have promised you I would help you to know the 6th sense. I am delivering my promise now...
Talking to a Catholic with Buddhist interest
I am quite happy to answer to your questions regarding the contents of my book. Nevertheless, I am afraid your points are not clear enough for me to answer...
Searching For The Truth
I can understand your feeling and what you are being through. Of what I can gather since we communicated, I can assure you that you are safe from the gateway to the lower realms. But you are still not safe as far as you immediate suffering is concerned,...
Jihad...the hallmark of Jerry?!
I often make a point in not to involve my writing with Islamic religion.

Supawan New Book

Following my decision to edit A Handful of Leaves for new publication, a new book will also be born. The title will be The User Guide to Life: Bringing Mental Self back Home.

I am in the process of working on this book which will be made up of two parts: the theory and the practice.

I herewith would like to share the first two chappters with you. They are only my drafts copies with the unfinished illustrations but the texts have been edited by Ian Timm, my student based in Portland, Oregon, who is also organising the forthcoming 'here and now retreat' there.

I hope that these two chapters might be able to convice a few more people on this planet to see the importance of the Buddha's teaching and the need to learn the vital skill of bringing mental self back home.

Here and Now Retreat Portland, Oregon will be between 24-26 May 2008. If you are in the neighbourhood and interested in this retreat, here is

Theory chapter one

Experience is the source of knowledge

That wise saying belongs to the world class physicist, Albert Einstein.

Two significant allegories

Throughout my books and teaching, I consistently talk about two significant allegories. They are:
1. Human beings are trapped in this gigantic life prison of which not many people are aware.
2. There is a strong mental magnetic field between Tom and Jerry or mental self and thoughts.

As far as I am concerned, those allegories are based on the facts that I have seen with my own mental eyes (having experience) which, of course, may not make any sense to you at all.
So, it is best if I tell you my experience which has led me to create these allegories about the life prison and mental magnetic field - the important messages that I have no doubt humankind must know.

My first extraordinary experience

When I was a third year university student, only some 18 months after I had found Suan Mokh founded by Venerable Buddhadasa and embarked on this serious meditation practice, I had an extraordinary experience which I never revealed to a soul until some 24 years later in a published book.

Such a detailed point of view on meditation! I can't even begin to describe the depths of insights I began to discover about myself and my connection to the universe and life - since I began meditating on a daily basis. My whole consciousness began to shift from a victim fear-based mentality to that of a empowered prosperity-mindset of a spiritual being complete and whole... no separation between me and the next man. we are all one. blessings!
