More about the SuperCourse

The concept of the Supercourse is building a "metaschool" of a variety of themes that could train students through the Internet.

Lectures are selected and made available on the Internet for the personal use of individual scientists and shared without restrictions among scientists and teachers, but cannot be sold.

If one uses a Supercourse lecture, the author of the lecture and the Supercourse itself should be acknowledged. The content and its accuracy are solely determined by the authors of the lectures.

A pilot project has been initiated taking the public health as a theme and 1500 electronic lectures that represent the "best lectures" in epidemiology have been selected and made available on CD as well as on the web.

JIT (Just in Time) Lectures - Responding to Emergent Situations

Scholarly real-time lectures were created through collaborative efforts and available within days after the Bam Earthquake, the Tsunami, Hurricanes Kristina and Rita, the Pakistan Earthquake and in response to the Avian Flu and SARS (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome).

These Just in Time lectures were made available to the classrooms of the world, reaching 120 countries.

Should a disaster strike, through the Supercourse, Contributors can create Just in Time lectures to get the best possible prevention and mitigation knowledge to the people who are interested.

The Supercourse also maintains a list of Disaster lectures for both Natural and Man Made disasters that include topics on Surveillance, Prevention and Disaster Mitigation, Terrorism, Bioterrorism, Disasters and injuries.
