Squidoo Means People - My Superheroes!
Squidoo.com is a brilliant concept. The cosmic law of giving and receiving has been realized beautifully throughout all aspects of Seth Godin's creation. The huge community of kind and generous members make Squidoo.com well worthy of superhero status. In this lens I will attempt to honor Squidoo.com by highlighting some of the many Squidoo superheroes I have encountered on my joyous journey as lensmaster.
The First Seven Superheroes In My Squidoo World
Motivating, inspiring, energizing, role-modeling, tutoring, guiding...
Seth Godin changes my mind. Let's take this example from his blog: "Your sales force and your customers may scream that you need to lower your price. It's not true. You need to increase your value. If people don't want to pay, it's because you're not delivering enough value for the money you're charging." As a small business owner selling my artisan products at farmers markets, I think about my prices all the time. Seth's blog post stopped me cold in my tracks. His advice changed my paradigm. Here was a completely different concept of looking at my business: What is the perceived value of my product? What is the story I am selling to my customers? How can I increase the value of this story? I have these kinds of "mind-altering" experiences every day when I study Seth Godin's new writings. That's why he is my Superhero.
Quality control is the ultimate responsibility of our Editor-in-Chief, Megan Casey. However, what really impresses me most is her incredible support system for newbies and experienced lensmasters alike. Megan's accessibility, her Squidoo help pages such as "6 ways to improve your lens", "Ideas for awesome lenses", and her SquidBlog articles offer a tremendous amount of encouragement through praise and inspiration to me (and thousands of others).
That's why she is my Superhero.
User-friendly design, timely upgrades, open communication, and prompt support paired with a 100-hour work week (I cannot imagine how else he could do it!) - meet Squidoo.com Engineer, Gil Hildebrand. His brilliant mind provides me with a creative home.
That's why he is my Superhero.
Inspiration is best given by example. One lensmaster caught my attention right away during the initial weeks of my Squidoo membership: Margaret Schaut. I've learned a great deal from her tutorials and Masterpiece Lenses. Please visit my superhero portrait of Ms. Schaut for a collection of exemplary lenscrafting. Margaret continues to mentor my lenswork with invaluable advice and support.
That's why she is my Superhero.
Determination is fueled by great support. One of my biggest motivators on Squidoo is lensmaster bdkz. Bonnie invited me to participate in her monthly Squidoo Charity Challenge, and she currently sponsors my efforts to become a Giant Squid.
That's why she is my Superhero.
Originality can be learned. Or, one is born with it - as it is the case with the lovely and inimitable Flowergardener. This "honey" of a generous community darling can be found most frequently in lensmaster forums offering her help to anyone who would ask. "Deb" always says it as it is.
That's why she is my Superhero.
Oneness in purpose and organic integration of mutual support systems are demonstrated beautifully by lensmaster rms. As a Giant Squid Organizer and blogger extraordinaire with her top-quality recipe site, "Cabaret Squidoo", Robin has actively supported a number of my cooking and recipe lenses.
That's why she is my Superhero.

Improve the way you think...
Margaret Schaut's EBook "Masterpiece Lenscrafting On Squidoo"
Can you afford NOT to learn from a master?

Seth Godin and Megan Casey were "fantastically impressed" by this work and they renamed it Masterpiece Manifesto.
From Megan's email:
"I hope you don't mind that I shared this with Seth in the office here, and we're both fantastically impressed by your effort.
The more people you can reach with your message about quality content and authentic voice and writing and recommendations, the better Squidoo will be. But more importantly, the better those people will do, and in the end, the better the web will be. Suffice it to say I think this is an important manifesto - and I actually think you could call it that."
Chef Keem's review of this ebook, 4/25/08
This ebook is written like an article - no hype, no announcements in triple bold letters, no space-wasting this or that. Here you'll find paragraph after paragraph after paragraph chock-full of invaluable information and direct guidance on "Masterpiece Lenscrafting on Squidoo". During my first quick read-through I couldn't help but gasp at the realization of glaring "mistakes" on my lenses which block my success with lensrankings and visitor numbers alike. And I learned about the "true secrets" of high rankings on Squidoo, Google, and the entire web.
Today, I'm honored with my first LOTD recognition. This book shall guide me to my second nomination and much, much more.
The author is someone we all know as one of the most successful lensmasters in the history of Squidoo. A beautifully generous mentor of the essence of Squidoo, a big-hearted angel to all sincere squidlins - Margaret Schaut.
Margaret doesn't have to prove anything, anymore. Her masterpiece lens on Michelangelo's David is one of the very few pages that has achieved #1 lensrank.
She is one of the Top 100 Club Giant Squids, a 4-time LOTD recipient, a "retired" Citizen Squids, blogger and multiple group master. That's enough credibility for me. Wouldn't you agree?

Thanks for the blessing.
