Welcome to the SuperHero Project Headquarters
Helping you making lenses for charity
We've invited some of our top lensmasters and favorite bloggers to join us in this challenge for charity. Here's the challenge: Make 5 lenses, in 2 weeks, about 5 of your everyday superheroes. People who have inspired you, mentored you, changed the way you see the world, or just made you smile. People you want to profile and dedicate a page to, as a big loud public THANKS. Could be about anyone from your mom to Bono or Alice Waters or your Art History professor or Zig Ziglar or David Wright or your little brother.
Think of it like an Acknowledgments project. Who do you owe a long overdue thanks?
And, of course, along the way, you're making pages that automatically donate royalties to charity. For free.
Turn your best 5 Superhero lenses in by July 1st 2008 by emailing them to superheroes at squidoo.com.
The 5 most sincere, creative, well-written lenses will be selected by a panel of lensmasters to win $500 each to the charity of your choice. And a spot as Lens of the Day.
That's it. Thems the rules. Have fun.

Who should I make a Superhero page about?
Just look around at the amazing people in your lifeThis is a special chance to tell a story about your own personal Superheroes. Not the mythical ones (sorry, Batman) but the real people who are making a real difference--in your life, in a small corner of the world, or on a grander scale.
Do you know a teacher or professor who goes above and beyond for his students?
Do Bill Gates and Bono inspire you to do more for Africa?
Is there a blogger you love to read everyday, someone who inspires you to get back to your own blog and get writing?
Does Bon Jovi make you think about the best options for rebuilding New Orleans?
Does your whole family participate in the Susan G. Komen Walk for Breast Cancer because your cousin beat it?
Does your boss actually make you love your job?
Does your pet brighten some else's dreary day?
Surely it's time they got their moment of fame, no?
Just for fun...
If your superhero has a book, list it here!A few FAQ
2. All Superhero lenses will donate money to the Squidoo Charity Fund, then we'll let everyone who participated vote on how we pay that out. It's usually about $10,000. Help us give it out!
3. The top 5 winners get $500 each donated to their favorite charities and causes. Yes, we'd prefer that the charities be registered 501c3s. But if, say, you'd like to send the contribution to your school or your kid's basketball team or your local farmer's market, just make sure they have a website and submit that URL with your 5 best lenses by the deadline so we can check it out.
4. Sorry, if we see that you've set your Superhero lenses to cash, you'll be ineligible to win. But of course, you're welcome to make lenses for the project!
5. Who will be selecting the top 5 lenses? Anne Reidy, our Squidoo Nonprofit Organizer, Megan Casey, Seth Godin, and our panel of Giant Squid Organizers.
