is it in the Wardrobe - or behind you ?
Castle Leslie is without doubt the most haunted Castle in Ireland - lots of ghosts and happenings and it's a Hotel so you can stay there .Dunboys Castle on the Beara Peninsula is now a plush block of apartments but was formerly a spooky Mansion.
The Picture above is of this Mansion.
I'm photographing a series of pictures of Sheela-na-gigs currently and some of these are very, very odd ... They are protective smallish statues generally found over the entrances to Castles and sometimes Churches as a protective figure to ward away evil and prevent theft.
WHich explains why one wouldn't let me take a photo of her by when I explained that I was making a sort of modern drawing of her she allowed me to photograph her (camera ceased working only when pointed at her ... but photographed holly bushes, castle, flowers and then stopped again when pointed at her...) The Victorians regrettably destroyed many sheela-na-gigs as they are all of ladies exposing their - ladies bits (to one degree or another).

Dublin Oddities
Hauntings and mummifications
St Michans Church in Church Street is one of the strangest supernatural oddities of Dublin - The Crypt houses a number of mummified corpses -viewable ... if you are brave !
Christchurch Cathedral has a small museum in the Crypt with the remains of a mummified Cat and a similarly preserved Rat ! Mummuifed cats were often walled into buildings for good luck ...
Dublin Castle was the scene of the theft of the State Jewels of Ireland ... never recovered !
Temple Bar is definitely spooky in the side alleys late at night - but the prize for haunting must go to Kilmainham Jail... the scene of thousands of executions in the 19th century and of the leaders of the uprising in the 20th Century.

Ghosts to remember
Real Ghosts aren't wht you expect
Below are a couple of Photographing Ghosts videos - I thought you'd like them.
If you want to photograph Ghosts (I did for a series of magazine articles) then just use a digital camera of fast film (400 asa or faster). Forget the advice to use infra-red film (OK it makes the house and grass look spooky) but a 2 minute exposure means no photos !)
Take a pocket tape recorder too and get the sounds if you can.

The Supernatural
The term supernatural or supranatural (Latin: super, supra "above" + natura "nature") pertains to an order of existence beyond the scientifically visible universe.Merriam-Webster.com Merriam-Webster Dictionary Religious miracles are typically supernatural claims, as are spells and curses, divination, the belief that there is an afterlife for the dead, and innumerable others. Supernatural beliefs have existed in many cultures throughout human history.
Characteristic for phenomena claimed as supernatural are anomaly, uniqueness and uncontrollability, thus lacking reproducibility required for scientific examination. Supernatural themes are often associated with paranormal and occult ideas, suggesting for possibility of interaction with the supernatural by means of summoning or trance for instance.
