Treasure from the Sea
I was first introduced to the beauty of sea glass by an aunt who had jars of it found on the beaches of Cape Cod. Now, whenever I am by the sea, I always manage to add a bit more to my own collection.
I hope you will enjoy exploring this interesting subject.
Super Seaglass Photos!
See how these treasures sparkle and capture the light! Oh life would be so much poorer without my sea glass collection.
Here are some images flickr users have posted of their super seaglass collections...
So...What Do You Do with Seaglass?
Well, seaglass can be used in a variety of art projects.
*You can wire-wrap it for use in jewelry.
*Design a mosaic serving tray, or (if you have a lot)a table-top.
*Embed it in a clay or polymer clay medium so that both sides are exposed...a form of stained glass!
These are just a few quick suggestions. Let your imagination run wild!

Some Seaglass Hunting Tips
Here are some of my seaglass hunting tips:
*the best time to look for it is after a storm
*I go early in the day or late in the evening when the sun's sharp angle catches the glint off the glass better
*I find more seaglass in areas where there are nearby offshore rocks.
My Favorite SeaGlass Haunts
*West Palm Beach, FL in the area of Singer Island.
*North Carolina's Outer Banks
*several small virtually inaccessible coves along the cliff walk out of Sutton, Ireland heading towards Howth
*the beach at Skerries, Ireland
and possibly the grand-daddy of them all,
*Seapoint, Ireland in the area of Brighton Vale

- Ahhhh....sea glass, I began collecting as a child with my grandmother and now in a different season of my life I started a sea glass hunting group in New England called the North East Sea Glass Society. As a full time sea glass artisan and hunter everyday is certainly colorful.

- I love my own collection of sea glass and had no idea it was such a popular subject. My glass came from a beach on Puget Sound in Washington State. I lived across the road from the beach and collected beach glass, shells, and glass floats for the two years I lived there.

- I was surprised to find that sea glass can also be found on the shores of large lakes. I picked some up on the shore of Lake Alma in northern Quebec. It was so pretty that I turned it into a mobile handing from a well worn stick.
Thank you for making this beautiful lens.
