Surf Fishing Tips - Don't Get Skunked!
I've heard it said that "a bad day (surf) fishing is better than a good day at work". I would have to agree. And with that attitude, I'd like to offer up my favorite surf fishing tips to you to improve your catch, keep you safe and just over all have a great time with this fantastic sport.
I love the thought of standing on the edge of the ocean in the early morning. Just me, my rod and reel, the surf, and, of course, the fish. Feeling that first jerk on the line and seeing a big fish being hauled into the shore is an invigorating experience.
Here's 21 surf fishing tips I've found to help any surf angler better his game.

Bait and Lure Surf Fishing Tips
5. Your bait will stay fresher longer if you keep it in a cooler.
6. Crabs can (and will) steal your bait. Keep your bait out of reach of the crabs, yet still in the fish strike zone by using a surf-floater rig.
7. If you use squid for your surf bait, be sure to slice it in a long strip and only hook it through one time so it hangs down like a worm.
8. Use bloodworms if you want to catch stripers and be sure to keep your hook size down (a 6 or 8) unless you're going for the really big stripers.
9. Best lure is a spoon because the wind doesn't bother it when you cast and you can retrieve it at different depths.
10. When you're not sure what lure the fish will bite, you can also use a basic shiner (silver colored metal lure).
