- I'm a Noosa based Surfer and line ups like these are not uncommon.
I hasten to add though you don't have to compete with 50 other surfers.
Mind if I come over for a Surf?
Might add too that this is a nice e clean site to visit.

Those beaches look so wonderful- no tourists, just nature. I'm writing about surfing in California and it's a whole different story out here. So many people. You can check it out if you have time at http://www.surfcaliforniablog.com.
The only thing I'd heard about New Zealand was LOTR and sheep, but now I'm definitely planning a trip out there!

- Epic photos. It sure has been a great summer of surf in NZ. I'm a fairly regular visitor to Karekare, Piha, Maori Bay, Port Waikato and Oceans Beach. Also Mangawhai bar is one of my favourites.
Cool lens, great photos. How did you manage to stay long enough out of the water to take them?

- The photos brought back lots of memories for me, thanks. I spent 9 months in Auckland in 87-88 and managed to see a lot of the North Island. Went body surfing at Piha - wonderful beach and great waves. Went scuba diving off Little Barrier Island, and spent a fantastic week in a beach house at Taupo Bay (unheard of to most visitors to NZ - it's a long drive down a dirt track to get there).
