Welcome to Ken McArthur's Survey Alert!

One of my best friends online is Ken McArthur.  When he first decided to get involved in this Internet thing, he created a website for incentivized surveys.  It was called MBSInternet.net and it became wildly successful!

Over the years, Ken became successful at putting together some of the best marketers with other marketers in order to develop a synergy that exploded his online business along with those of everyone who got involved with his projects!

I first met Ken online when I joined one of his email lists and I found him to be the most caring of people I had ever had an email conversation with.  It began with his jvAlert Live promotion, when he seemed to be talking directly to me in the email, asking me if I was going to be there for the Orlando event.  I replied to him that I would not be able to make it, because I did not have enough cashflow to be able to swing a $699 ticket plus hotel.

Ken promptly replied that he would let me come to the conference for free if I would help him with the registrations and carrying the microphone to people who would be speaking from the audience.  I didn't hesitate and told him I would do it and the rest is history.  Now I never miss an event that Ken puts on and I am now his research manager at his Survey Alert website.

The key is doing it consistently. Because Ken was one of the early players in the online survey market, his website is getting thousands of visitors per day by people looking for surveys to fill out. Thing is, if market research firms are willing to pay for surveys, who am I to criticize them for it.

In some instances, a paid survey is really a promotion for a product while testing to see if people are interested in the product, the features or more importantly is the price right...

I can see how a marketer could earn money by putting together a program where they receive compensation for referring people to surveys, but I am not sure that paid surveys do anything more than provide incentive for an uninformed consumer to give up their personal information to be sold to mega-corporations.

I worked for a short time for a Market Research Company: I was one of "those annoying people" who approach total strangers with a clipboard to ask if they will answer a few questions. That's the part everybody knows about. What they don't see, however, is what goes on "behind the scenes" - how "targets" are identified, and what happens to the information once it's obtained. This is why I fail to see how paid surveys provide useful market research data.

What am I missing?
