Survival Tips
So, you're here looking for survival tips, eh? There are many different aspects of survival. The survival information you want to read should be concentrated on your current location. The two biggest categories of survival is wilderness and urban. Learning about survival skills can greatly increase your confidence.
Some enemies of survival are fear, fatigue, cold, heat, pain, hunger, thirst and loneliness. You must always be prepared to survive if you clear peace of mind...near or away from civilization. Always keep a positive attitude. Think things through and never panic.
Always be aware of the climate and area you're in. Understand the weather conditions and plan accordingly. Weather conditions can change rapidly. It is handy to keep a compass or GPS so that you know where you are at all times in the event you have to temporarily relocate.
Having a small "bug out bag" can help ease your mind. A bag like this consists only of the essentials and is stored ready to go. In the event of an emergency you can easily grab your "bug out bag" and know you have everything you need.
Survival Necessities
STOP!
Stop, Think, Observe, Plan
T (think about the situation, the weather, the terrain, time (logically how
long will it take for assistance to arrive), what resources you have on and
around you),
O (observe what's around you and what may affect you now and in the near
future, weather, resources.),
P (plan what actions you will need to accomplish to survive taking
advantage of your resources.)
Extreme Survival
Food, Water, Shelter
The importance of man's 3 basic needs
Water. You can die in as little as three days without water. Don't forget to purify the water, if you use water that you did not bring with you. Drinking unsafe water is just plain stupid.Shelter. You can die in as little as three hours from loss of body heat. Also, without protection from the heat of the day your survival may be very limited. You need protection from the elements. Shelter also includes the shelter you wear on your back; your clothes.
Food. You can die in as little as three weeks without food.
Survival Food
Sealed pouches with a long shelf life is important.
First Aid
Some experts believe this is a priority before shelter and even air, I guess someone could bleed to death in a few minutes. In any case one of the prime situations that could promote a survival situation is a Injury or Medical emergency. I am listing it as a priority here for that reason. If you are injured, your will to survive will be impaired.A standard first aid kit should include
- Ibuprofen
- tweezers
- alcohol wipes
- antiseptic hand cleaner
- medical adhesive tape
- sterile gauze (four inch squares are best)
- elastic bandages
- several sizes of adhesive bandages
- insect bite swabs
- Compare Pricestriple-antibiotic ointment
- hydrogen peroxide
- bandage scissors
- triangular bandages
- instant cold packs
- exam gloves
- barrier device for CPR
