- I'm one of those who started a home-based business, and, thankfully, it's been picking up steam lately. We were in pretty good shape when these tough times began and managed to stay that way by continuing to live below our (modest) means, basically, but the extra income from my business has definitely helped us be a little more comfortable and pad the "just in case" fund.

- Everyone needs a plan b. no one has a safe job, it seems to be like a domino, an industry affects others and more, so no one could control his business like before. There are safer ways investing money. In my case, I found there are bonuses for opening new trading accounts on forex and this kind of markets which back up the economy all over the world

- Great advice. We've cut unnecessary expenses and are looking into ways to make money on the side. I worry about my kids. My oldest is graduating from college in May. Will he be able to find a job?

- You've included some wise ideas for cutting expenditures, like switching to less expensive services for cable, telephone, etc. There are two ways to impact your financial status: spend less and earn more. While folks can usually figure out how to cut costs, they don't always realize how they can increase their income. Thanks for getting the conversation started...
