The premise of the show features anywhere between 16-20 strangers who become stranded together in a remote location, and must find ways to build a new life from the land. The cast members are divided up into tribes and they compete against each other in two forms of challenges: immunity and reward. After the immunity challenge, the losing tribe is forced to banish one member from their own tribe. This banishment occurs in a ceremony called Tribal Council, at which tribe members cast silent votes for the member who they think should leave. Obviously, the individual who won the Immunity Challenge is safe for another week on the show. The reward challenge is based on endurance, skill, problem-solving abilities or other criteria and allows the cast members to win luxury-type items to make their stay more enjoyable and comfortable. Examples of luxury items have included: food, matches, tarps and tools, and have been used to catapult the comfort and endurance of the cast members.

Day 4 on Survivor Cook Islands revealed that all the tribes were interested in improving their camps, finding food and making fire. Survivor Cook Islands

We opened up with the African American Tribe struggling to make fire with a knife and flint. Nate, the lone male left on the tribe struggled repeatedly and unsuccessfully to start a fire.

Nate gave up.

Note to all future Survivor players. You can use Glasses and the sun to start fire, you can use a flint with a lot of lose "dry" material and the flint spark. First you shave some of the flint stone onto your material and then strike to create the sparks. Dude couldn't light the rock!

On Survivor Cook Island the Asian and White Tribes tied for 1st place in the combined Survivor Cook IslandImmunity reward challenge. The African American team came in 3rd while the Hispanic team attempted to throw the contest and succeeded in finishing last. As a result the Hispanic team named a tribe member to be sent to exile island.

Yul Kwon of the Asian tribe was sent to Exile Island, home of the Hidden Immunity Idol. From the Clue, use the tree to form a letter and where you no longer see the south island. Yule the Stanford and Yale graduate had no problem aligning himself up by the clues and marked an X where to dig.
