And the Jury Begins - Life at the Ponderosa
What the tribe members do while awaiting Jury Duty
Life on the Ponderosa is where tribe members that are voted off and onto the Jury that will decide who will get the one million dollars and who will be the sole survivor! Check out what they have to say and do while on the Ponderosa!#2 - Charlie is voted off
#1 - Marcus first to be voted off and first on the jury!
Episode #9: 4 Against 4 and Sugar in the Middle!
Arguments in Over-drive!
It started with a rather enjoyable Reward Challenge of "Sling Shot Golf" - or "golf Survivor style" as Jeff Probst put it! They tribe members used a giant sling shot to shoot he golf ball into the over sized "cup". 2 members held the sides of the sling shot and the other pulled it back and let it go! I have to say, Bob really did the best of all of them in the pulling back part - hei s older and less muscle than the others, but he sure did hold his own on this one. He is actually the only survivor that no one ever "talks" bad about or tries to get rid of!
However, the arguments weren't ignored and Randy's arrogance started the fires - he and Matty got into it pretty bad when the golf ball literally fell right at the edge of the "hole" , but they still had to shot it INTO the hole with the sling shot - not just drop it. Those two were at it hot and heavy with each demanding to do it their way. Then Matty did the shot and the ball fell into the "cup" and they won and they celebrated their winning victory with yet another loud, volitale arguement between them again! Are we all bored with the arguing yet? Well, us viewers are, but I guess the players aren't!
Fang wins and sends Bob to Exile Island...yes, Sugar was on the winning team this time and so Kato got to send someone. Bob searched pretty good for the idol but since it wasn't there, he decides to pull a" Yau-Min" and makes a phoney idol incase he can use it to his advantage. Been tried twice Bob...didn't work either time. Do you think this time will be the winner? Tune in and find out! Reward for Fang was a "night out" with the "locals" and a feast in a Gabonese tribe.
Interesting things that I caught: Kenny voiced to the interviewers, his confidence to win. Randy decided that the Gabonese Tribal women were hitting on him so he blessed them with his presence! Randy and Crystal were sure at it this week - boy the verbal hatred is hot and heavey between those two! He called her "bigfoot" and a few other choice names. I know there is alot that goes into being a good member and missing the vote and all, but I just don't see how being so loud, rude, hateful and arrogant is going to get Randy anywhere! And he sure has done nothing to make him deserve to win the million dollars. Hopefully the rest of the team will get that, and vote him off - I mean, they keep saying the "need" Randy, but now that the merge has happened, why do they need him? He is a stronger person - get rid of the stronger team members once Individual Immunity is to be had. Seems to me you keep the strong ones when it is tribe against tribe, but once merged and Individual Immunity is the price, you vote to get rid of the strongest tribe members so there is less competition.
Yes, this week they merged into one. Randy and Crystal went at it again. Immunity Challenge was to build a fire with flint and all the materials at their finger tips. THey just had to build a fire that would burn a rope tied across it - not to high. Susie was the first to make fire, then Sugar.... but defeated only by seconds, Susie's rope burned first, putting Sugar in 2nd place - and what... no Randy? No! He didn't even get fire started! Guess he isn't the macho he-man he thinks he is! Bet that burned him up really good! But he will show his team - next week he apparently goes skinny dipping in front of everyone. Hopefully the tribe will see him for what he is and vote him off so that the rest can concentrate on winning without his abuse and hatred dominating everything and every body!
When they returned to Kato camp after the Immunity Challenge, they were treated by a feast of food and drink - again, wine. Always wine - doesn't Mark Burrnett think that there is anything other than wine that people drink? It is always wine and beer for the beverage on these feast things.
Anyway at Tribal Council, it is 4 against 4 and Sugar has the deciding vote. Both "sides" impress upon her as to who to vote off on the other "side". She was quite torn about it as was evident at Tribal Council - at least after Randy and Crystal went into arguement mode AGAIN!!! Crystal asked Randy "Why me?" Of course "because you are threat to me" never came out of his mouth, well, let's see, not much of anything but a bunch of meaningless words and stutter came out of his mouth.Basically he just told her he hates her cause she does to him what he does to her!! But then again, Corrine is in second place for the "hatred slinging" award - she is the same way with Sugar... I think tho, that she just realizes that Sugar isn't as stupid as they all think and stands a really good chance, better than Corrine herself at being at least in the final two . Oh well, Sugar has my vote for winner!
The vote was between Crystal and Charlie... and Charlie lost! Boy, was that a blindside! I mean, he didn't seem to be one way or the other, but he got sent home - well to Ponderosa anyway. He said he would be happy to see Marcus once there!

Jeff Has Tallied the Votes -
Who was voted off Survivor: Gabon?
#8 - Ace (Fang) - thought he was so great, but finds out he wasn't!#7 - Dan (Kato) His nervous personality lead to his early demise!
#6 - Kelly (Fang) Wasn't to sad she was voted off.
#5 - Danny "GC" - Fang. He wanted to go home so they sent him...with no final words!
#4 - Jacquie (Fang) She describes the team members very well!
#3 - Paloma (Kato) and her final words. Didn't seem to care one way or another!
#2 Gillian (Fang) and her Final Words - She seems to me to be a person that believe the grass is greener on the other side, but does nothing to go get it but just complains that others don't.
#1 Michelle (Fang) and her Final Words - Wow - what a smart-mouth, self-righteous looser she is proclaiming to be!
Episode #8 - Do the Tribal Twist!
Randy thinks he is KING and Marcus thinks he is Safe!
Fang agreed not to tell any others at a merge that Sugar has the Hidden Immunity Idol - as if they all don't already don't know that!
Corrine and Susie were at it hot and heavy verbally beating each other up..albeit to other tribe members! No love lost between the two! As it stands there is 6 Kota and 4 Fang.
Instead of a Reward Challenge, both tribes are "invited" to a beach feast and told to bring all their personal belongings for a "Switch Feast". They all assume it is for the Tribal Merge into one tribe. As they arrive at the beach they are treated with a huge table literally laden to the gills with food and drink. I always wonder why they always have only wine and beer as the accompaning liquid beverage on these feasts. Never iced tea or coffee or sodas or even plain old drinking water!
A few twists at this "challenge": A closed bowl in the middle of the table says to not open it until everyone is done eating. Once opened, eating stops. So they all eat for awhile. Then Kenny notices a note hidden amongst the dishes.... a clue to a Hidden Immunity Idol there on that beach! Kenny can keep it to himself or share it. He shares and Marcus, thinking confident that he would be fine with either tribe members, starts the agreement that if found, no one will keep it and
they will all throw it into the ocean. since they are going to be merged into one tribe...Randy - that arrogant soul, finds it right away. He then lays it in the middle of the table and says anyone that wants it can have it. No one wants it as they feel it will be their ticket to be voted off...couldn't understand that as if they think they are going to be merged into one tribe, why not have it to protect yourself from the opposing tribe as they come together? Opposing tribes usually try to vote off survivors from the "other" tribe once the merge happens. That poor little Immunity Idol - originally created to be a great help and savior to the tribe members, sure has become an unwanted plague! However, Does Randy regrets tossing the idol? Hummm...
So now they open the box and find that they are not going to merge but just switching teams....again! They drew rocks with numbers, and odd went to one tribe, even to the other. Now it is 5 and 5 for each team. Frankly, I can't keep up with respective tribes anymore! They are switched so often it seems, that I can't keep track of who's on first! So I don't try, I'll just wait till merge time and do my roothing then! But seems the Fang team has deemed it necessary and ambitious to change the
pronounciation of the teams name "Faung" to "Fang".
Immunity Challenge
This one was a group winner - the last survivor standing claimed immunity for their entire tribe. Bob and Matty were the last standing and Bob was the one to falter, although not by but a few seconds to Matty! So the alliance bickering begins as Kota goes to Tribal Council
Marcus, who thought he was "safe" with both tribes was the 9th survivor voted off and the first jury member - now his fun begins!!!
Episode #7 - Sugar vs. Ace!
It all depends on the Pin-Up Girl!! Yes it sure did in this episode!
This episode was the most suspenseful and intriguing episode of this season's Survivor! A lot was revealed, suspected and couple twists in there! And a GREAT Blind-side hits Tribal Council!First, the landscape was amazing! Talk about Go Green! The only place I have ever seen that shade of green is in a box of Crayola Crayons! Beautiful green as far as you can see! The aerial views were just tremendous! And those beautiful hippopotamus and elephants - boy, just amazing! And right down to some of the ugliest bugs I have ever seen! And a couple of ants carrying their food! That was rather cute to see those little guys work so hard together!
Well, it was interesting as both tribe mates are seemingly rude and even a bit hateful to each other as to forming alliances and who to kick off first and fastest. They tell each other who and why - boy, getting rather ugly in Gabon!
Let the Games Begin!
Kato won the Reward Challenge which was a Breakable Ball Toss - 2 from one team playing "pickle" with a member of opposing team. If the ball fell and broke, the other team won a point. Kato won 2 of the times, Fang dropped their own breakable ball! Reward was an afternoon picnic and a ride in a helicopter and letters from home - although that was portrayed as a "Oh, by the way" kind of reward! Noticed that Randy wasn't shown reading any! At least they didn't show him with any - is he that rude and obnoxious at home that no one misses him? Hum%u2026
And of course the winning tribe gets to send someone to Exile Island and for the historical 5th time, Sugar gets sent there. She of course is not concerned%u2026she knows she will get some food and a nice day of relaxation! I guess they kept sending her as they know that if anyone has the Immunity Idol, she either does or doesn't but she would be the only one with that option come merger time. But Sugar isn't what she seems - she is smart as she talked about her plan and understands that Ace is a swindler and she knows where she stands in the tribe, .even if they don't'!
Matty (Fang) is tired of Sugar (Fang) - she is useless, helpless%u2026good grief she is only a pin up model - how much can she offer, he asks! So he is pushing to vote her off. I think it is more he knows she has power - jealously coming aboard! Ace (Fang) says to keep Sugar so they know where the idol is when merger times comes - but we all know it is so he can get the idol when he needs it!
Immunity Challenge was a real exciting twist - they played for Individual Immunity for a person from each time but they didn't merge and they even competed against their own team mates! Then BOTH teams had to go to tribal council and vote someone off. It was a Log Roll - LumberJack style! And guess what??? The last three standing were Ace, Marcus AND SUGAR!!! Ace was fit to be tied!!!! Sugar (Fang) fell first, Ace (Fang) fell second and Marcus (Kato) was the winner! Ace was so mad!! THEN another twist - Marcus (Kato) could choose a person from Fang and that person got Immunity too! Who'd he choose? SUGAR!!! It was a cheering, handclapping, laughing, "you go girl" event! Both tribes were speechless, mouths hanging and eyes bulging as Sugar walked up there to get Immunity!! Now she had this immunity AND the hidden Immunity Idol - she is save for 2 tribal councils!! Next week should be full of comments from both teams - I am excited to tune it to see this!!!
So of course, back a camp - Ace asks Sugar for the hidden immunity idol to keep him safe. He said he'd give it back if he didn't need it, but she caught on to that - if she gives it to him, and he plays it, it is gone, how can he give it back? If he doesn't play it, and is voted off, the idol goes back to Exile Island - no way would she get the idol back as he promised. So she didn't give it to him but (successfully) convinced him that he was not being voted off tonight. She at that time, for the interview voiced her conclusion that Ace is a swindler and she isn't falling for it!! Good going, Sugar!!!
At Tribal Council -
Fang blindsides Ace big time and he is voted off!! His final words as he walks away, "Thanks Sugar". Boy, was he mad!!!!! But Sugar had Immunity for that vote and still retains the Immunity Idol for immunity at following councils should she need it.
Kato voted off Dan - to strong for their liking I guess. It was interesting too, that on both councils, the voting was an even split - 3 and 3 and the final vote was the determining vote. Just shows the tribes are split now.
Tune in next week for more fun and games and bring on the Sugar! I hope she wins!!!

Episode 6 - Ace and Sugar face off!
Survivor - which one will it be?
This weeks episode of Survivor was rather interesting in unexpected and welcome ways.Kota has started fighting over food - rationing food specifically. Dan eats to much and others are not very happy with him for this reason. Meanwhile at the other tribe of Fang, they are stretching their last few grains of rice.
Sugar let Ace talk her into giving him the Hidden Immunity Idol for "safe keeping"%u2026 hum.. Safe for whom, we have to wonder! At Kota, Kenny, Sugar, Ace and Matty made an alliance. First one to be made.
The Reward Challenge was rather interesting. The members had this long and heavy "snake" thing that they had to run a course with while carrying it and then to tag the other team to win. Those that couldn't handle it, got tired, they dropped out and left it to the others to continue. Ended up with Kota winning after 5 of the 7 members of Fang dropping out. 5 Kota guys against the 2 guys are Fang. Oh well, Fang lost again, and the reward was a huge banquet of breakfast baked goods and drinks.
Kota sent Sugar to Exile Island %u2026AGAIN%u2026 good grief, what is their problem with that girl! She's done nothing but play the game! Guess they can at least see the person that deserves to win and are trying to discourage it. I seldom "root" for a person at this point of the game, I usually wait till the one-team merge and then wait till the last 4-5, but now, I think Sugar should win. They are all picking on her, she keeps that smile on her face and is riding along on her own value. She hasn't complained, bickered or argued with anyone and isn't even mad that she is always sent to Exile - granted she knows she will get to eat and rest, and wasn't it nice that she felt bad for her team mates - here she gets to eat nice and rest, while they struggle with discomfort and no food. At least she has a heart!
Fang's Crystal (old Fang) is having a problem with Kota's Randy (old Fang). Mortal enemies comes to mind! Fighting while on different teams, and making ready for fighting when they merge! Hum%u2026should be interesting. Other team members were comparing Crystal to GC. She cried when they lost the Reward Challenge and her team mates are saying that shows she is weak and ready to leave. She tried to defend herself and just place it at the door step of "tired of loosing", so we'll see how that plays out!
Two animal interesting things happened - Kota caught a huge water turtle, cooked and ate it! I always wonder if they get approved for doing this kind of thing from the show or the island authorities - I mean, how would they know if the turtle is even an edible item or poisonous, or maybe endangered or something. But I guess if it wasn't okay from some one, they wouldn't be showing it being eaten - for obvious reasons.
Another site was while they were doing the little interviews with a survivor - there was a beautiful, giant, black elephant with huge long white tusks in the back ground.. Even the Survivor stopped talking and turned to watch it. These animal shots are quite amazing and beautiful. The elephants are almost "new". I mean, I've seen them in the zoos and such, but those don't hardly look like these on this seasons Survivor are!
The Immunity Challenge was the first exciting challenge to date! Seperated into 2's, they had to run an obsticle course, obtain some flag pole parts and then obsticle course it back to the team Fang for the first time was leading the pack!! Kelly and Sugar took the first part and just shot through that course, Kato trailing! It was rather energy grabbing, but in the end, Kato won - literally within only seconds of Fang completing. Seemed assembling the pole post was the hardest part!
At Fang, Matty tried to get them to vote Sugar off so as to get the idol used, while Ace wanted to vote Kelly off. Then it started%u2026he and she talked, then they each went to another person and told that person, who told their friends, who told their friends and so on and so on%u2026.I lost track of who told whom what and who wanted to vote for whom, by whom%u2026%u2026 Ace and Kelly were the popular names talked about. Sugar told Kenny she had given the idol to Ace, and made her decide to take it back.
Tribal Council - Fang - again must vote a team mate off. They all admitted that they just didn't work together as a team%u2026 I say they have never tried so how do they know, but at least they are honest and admit it now! And they voted Kelly off.

Immunity Challenge - was rather exciting!

Episode #5 - CBS: Survivor, Gabon
Who is the "quitter" this week..yes, he wanted to go home!
Survivor Episode #5 starts out...well, that's about it. It started out! Jeff Probst walked us through last weeks episode and since it was not that exciting last week, I was hoping for excitement in Gabon this week. The best event of the show this week was when the Fang tribe noticed a HUGE elephant across the narrow river - thrashing amongst the jungle trees and eating leaves. And growling - or whatever the sound an elephant makes is called! It was so close up and personal!! That elephant was the biggest I have ever seen and such a beautiful color of dark grey and the longest white tusks that'd put the cover of National Geographic to shame! He looked a bit intimidating and even mean, but also seemed to say "you stay on your side, I'll stay on mine!". It was an awesome sight!
Other than that, there wasn't much excitement, but it was interesting. The Reward Challenge was a "Fruit Toss and Wack" game. Okay, it was a little fun but really, not much compared to the other challenges the show has had. Reward prize was an herb garden. I couldn't believe it - an herb garden - they didn't have any food, but got herbs!! I just thought "all that for that?" Kato won the Reward Challenge and sent Sugar (Fang), for the third time, to Exile Island. She was not surprised when she was chosen and even mentioned that she named the little shack there "Sugar Shack". Other tribe members caught on to her "less than annoyed" attitude of being sent to Exile Island for the third time in a row! She enjoyed her time of food and relaxation!
When Jeff Probst asked Kato why they sent Sugar for the third time, first it was for "comedy" reasons, and then said it was because they thought she had the immunity idol (why do they all think she has it? So what if she's been there twice, it is always rather hard to find!) and they wanted the Idol back into circulation before the merge. I don't understand that strategy - a survivor can't have the idol if they are not sent to Exile Island and they can't get sent to Exile Island unless their team looses and the winning team choose someone from that tribe and then it is only one person - who knows which the winning tribe will choose? Just doesn't make sense to me. If it does to you, please leave a comment below. I'd like to understand this!
While she was gone, her fellow tribe mates were talking and all convinced that she had the idol. Did they forget that other survivor was there first and maybe he found it? Guess not! Also while she was gone, GC started his talent of complaining and wanted to go home. He told fellow castaways he was done, he didn't want to be here anymore. So they all decided to vote him off.
And the Immunity Challenge, "Cliff Bowliing" again, a really lame challenge as only one from each tribe actually had to work and one was on the side lines - a caller of direction. Not at all interesting. The Immunity Challenge almost started one tribe member short - GC took a ride alone in the canoe and no one could find him! They called out to him, and with only minutes until they had to leave for the Challenge, they thought that he was not returning, but then he showed up minutes in time to go with the tribe to Immunity Challenge
We all thought that it was a good thing to find the Hidden Immunity Idol on Exile Island...NOT! According to this episode, it is a death sentence - or I guess in this case a "vote off" sentence. All they did was talk about voting off Sugar if they decided she had the idol. Once back at camp, Sugar took a swim and while swimming Crystal got all together and they invaded Sugar's personal tote bag and found the idol. Granted, she should have hidden it elsewhere but at the same time, shouldn't there be some kind of "rule of the game" that says hands off to others only sole possession? Again, guess not! But first they were planning on voting off GC, and now have changed their minds to vote off Sugar - still, can't figure why, but that was the impression they left with us viewers. But at Tribal Council, not a single vote for Sugar, all but one (GC's) was for GC. Granted, Sugar will probably be next, just so they can get her to use the Idol, but stranger things have happened, so guess we'll all have to tune in next week to see what sneaky, back-stabbing tricks they have up their sleeves! And who goes to Exile Island next!
Interesting things that happened this episode:
A survivor had a GREAT time on Exile Island! That has never happened before!
Sugar told Ace she had the idol ... why do they do that?
The survivors just don't seem to have the "will" so to speak, to play the game. None of them seem happy to be a contestant, none of them have any plans, strategies or anything else to plan to be the winner of the million dollars. Very few alliances have been made, no one seems to like anyone, no energy, no exuberance... just like they are camping in the park for a few days.
Episode #4 - CBS TV Survivor Gabon
Who Will Out Bicker!!!
Yes, bickering, arguing and picking on each other, seems to be the credentials of this seasons Survivor TV Show. Both of the Survivor Tribes, Kato and Fang, are now in "alliance forming" mode. I didn't see that they particularly choose their alliances by much more than just who likes who or based on tribe members sticking together against old opposing tribe members now in their tribe. Guess it could work - if everyone likes each other they could work together better, but still - physical strength plays a huge part in the challenges and attitude is also important - and I don't see to many good attitudes this season - however with the new twist coming up that they don't know about - things WILL change!Episode #4 of Survivor Gabon show. had a sudden twist - the tribes didn't merge, but the flipped around! At the first Challenge (no reward this time other than a new color buff!) each member of each tribe was told to "rank" the people on their tribe from most important to least important. All members were then told to stand on post showing their ranking within the tribe. Marcus/Kato and Matty/Fang were the most important in their respective tribes so they were the new "captains" of the new tribes. They were told to choose a person from the opposite tribe. Each new tribe member chosen had their turn to choose. Because the number of survivors was an odd number, there was one castaway left un-chosen - it was Sugar. All team mates got their new buffs, but kept the same name of the tribe that their captain was - Fang or Kato.
Crystal was mad that she was only ranked #4 most important - "after all she's done" and GC was made he was ranked at #2 least important - since he "does so much" and Bob, Bob was ranked #4 most important but chosen third to last! I think all were rather annoyed at what their tribe members thought of them!
Now, poor
Sugar - bless her heart, was last standing so she was sent to Exile Island for 3 days until the next Tribal Council and a tribe would vote someone off, and Sugar would replace that person and be on that team and the tribes would be equal in number. She found the hidden Immunity Idol on her very first visit to Exile Island last week - something that I don't believe happened before,
Yau-Man found it on his second try, I believe. But anyway, she has it and when she went to the island, she again had the choices of "Clues" or "Comfort". Since she already had the Idol, she of course chose the "Comfort" and had 3 days of wonderful food, shelter and a really nice "vacation" from the crummy existence on the beaches!! She was very happy when she was chosen - as she knew what awaited her! Good going, Sugar!!
The Immunity Challenge Big Oar Deal was boring. Basically water LaCrosse in small boats - the LaCrosse looking stick being used as a paddle. Not very exciting and Kato wins 3-0.
Fang went to Tribal Council - Jacquie was voted off. Sugar will return and be member of the Fang tribe. Poor girl has points against her already! They assume she has the Hidden Immunity Idol and already have plans to make her use it so they can vote her off ASAP. I have to wonder tho - will she tell anyone she has it? I have always thought that was the dumbest thing to do - to reveal your secrets. They always do though, and it usually back fires on them! I hope she keeps it to herself!
I don't see a favorite this time. I usually don't even bother to look until the tribes merge, but this season - it seems to be filled with a bunch of lazy, bad attitude survivors! I just don't see anyone really working hard to win. I don't see any personalities that stand out other than in the bickering department (Ace, GC and Randy!) Can someone bicker their way to winning a million dollars? Guess we'll see! Check it out for yourself and then share with us what you think about who deserves to win. I just don't see a sole survivor, save for maybe Bob - he is the only one they ever show actually WORKING. The rest are always either bickering, arguing or just laying around doing nothing.
Only time will tell!

Survivor Episode #3 - BORING!!!
Surprise on Exile Island, no surprise on survivor voted off.
Well, I can't believe I am saying this, but I think last night's episode of CBS's Survivor: Gabon was probably the most boring episode in the history of Survivor!! Even the bickering was at a low scale! Randy ranted about his tribe for a minute ending it with : "they're all just stupid...they don't know it, but they are". I was surprised that was basically the extent of the bickering and name calling for this episode. Well, there was an "exchange of words" between GC and Randy as to the issue of being the tribe leader or not, but nothing more than a couple of children would bicker about!Exile Island is still among us - Sugar(Kato tribe) was sent there and low and behold the hot shot muscle man couldn't find it last episode, but the little pin-up model put the clues together as she trapsed through the jungle in her lepoard skin print dress and she found it! LIttle twist this season to Exile Island... she was offered the clues to the Immunity Idol OR a 2 day feast of food! She chose the clues and it paid off! It is times like this that I enjoy Survivor the most - finally, someone actually did something intelligent and worthwhile - and NO BICKERING!
The Reward Challenge this week was pathetic, compared to the usual challenges. Usually they are quite amazing at what they design to fit every type of person,. This challenge was literally only for the strong. One person wrapped themselves around a post and 2 members of the opposite tribe had to pull them off the pole and literally drag them through nothing but lots of dirt and over the finish line. Christine was the only woman that was an asset in this challenge and she struck out a couple men that weren't up to this challenge of strength! Good for Christine!
The Immunity Challenge - again, just not up to usual Survivor standards. A huge "slip and slide" thing of red and yellow plasitc was mounted on the river bank and the castaways just ran, slide down the slip-n-slide and into the water...walked/swam a few feet, picked up floating package and then had to run back, tag the next person. Once all the packages were collected (6 of them) they were given to a single tribe member who, with a "equation clue" had to figure the order of numbers to use a the combination to a chest for the axe that they used to cut the rope and raise their flag to win. Nothing very exciting at all!
Fang, after loosing both times last episode, won both challenges this time.
Kato went to Tribal Council. Sugar didn't see the need to use her "hidden Immunity Idol" and Paloma was voted off - being the weakest member. She wasn't to happy about it, but at the same time, didn't appear to sorry to be going either! She did say in her final words - that if Ace wins, she might never watch Survivor again! Well, Paloma, we don't care and it just shows that you are not a team player, which is what got you voted off!
Oddities this episode:
I thought is was interesting that Ace said they should basically "throw" the Reward Challenge as it was for comfort and bedding and save their energies for the Immunity Challenge. Good idea, although it didn't work!
Nobody likes anybody! On either tribe! Previous Seasons, alliances were started often, before the shelter was even built, but this time... no alliances seem to be forming on either team.
And Bob...no matter what...still wears his bow tie with pride! Even made one out of his buff. Good luck to you, Bob!
Survivor Gabon - Episodes #1 and #2
Unorganization, arguing and Jeff Probst shaking his head in disbelief...
Season 17 of CBS TV's reality show..."Survivor" opens - way out in the middle of no where....Gabon, Africa, and wasn't it the most beautiful, untouched, greenest no-where you've ever seen? And the animals! Wow, some fantastic close ups shots of rather huge, amazing and beautiful animals. I mean, I have seen an elephant before, but up close in their own homeland, doing their own thing, it was just like seeing them for the first time. The Tribes are chosen - Fang and Kato. The two oldest survivors are the choosers - Gillian and Bob. Gillian, being a mother, choose fellow mothers. Bob seemed to choose for physical strength, no offense to moms out there! Michelle was the last to be chosen, and was sent to the Fang tribe. She was, however, the third castaway and the first woman up that huge, cumbersome steep hill they had to climb. And Gillian? She is known as the "old broad that fell up the hill".
But I have to stop there and ask that million dollar question....these people know where they are going and what they are going to be doing....why do the women never dress the part? They know the physical aspects of Survivor, they know how things will be....WHY DON'T THEY DRESS THE PART???? I mean the woman knows she is going into some way out, far off, desolate place where there will be nothing...and what does she wear? A strapless, thin cloth, slinky dress, as worn by Sugar - add to that the leopard skin print. Good Grief!! What it their reason for wearing the shortest pair of shorts imagenable and a tube top? It only makes sense to wear a bit more even if it just capris and a t-shirt- you can always take of if it gets hot, but once cold, there's nothing to cover up with! I understand the distraction theory, but by this time, the men are not that eager to be distracted! Ok, so...on we go...
The first course of business was for both tribes to race up a steep hill. The first person up from each tribe got ammunity and the first full tribe to make it up the hill got extra corn and beans. Loose dirt and nothing to hold on to, it was quite the challenge for most. Kato made it up first, but I have to hand it to the men on the Fang tribe..they sure did help the ladies up the hill when they needed it. I thought it odd that the Olympic track runner woman complained about her shoes being the problem!
And did you notice? Even JEFF PROBST was shown running up the hill!
And we didn't have to wait long for the first woman to disrobe. Sugar (Kato), the one in that slinky, thin cloth, leporad skin print, strapless dress, had dropped top once they got to their camp. Michelle (Fang) dropped her top and revealed the smallest bra ever! Lot of editing to blurr-out what was falling out! Good thing she was voted off - now she can go home and put on some clothes! No one was interested, Michelle!
Fang was the most featured of the two tribes. I guess that is what constant bickering, unorganization and no commitment will do for you. Not only was there no leader, but no one wanted to be the leader! Just 9 people doing what they wanted to do...while doing absolutely nothing! They were the first at Tribal Council and Jeff Probst brought this up and while the Fang team members went into arguement-over-drive - Jeff sat there shaking his head at them!! What a hoot! Finally they all just stopped and Jeff picked a person, GC, and ran him down the line of "would you vote for him as leader?" and all members said yes. GC was the youngest on the tribe, and most certainly didn't want to be leader. What part of "on the downward slide" does this team not get?
They went back, GC did a little here and there and finally said forget it, he was "stepping down". They did do something rather cool tho... Randy took his glasses apart and made a fishing hook and they caught a dinners worth of fish! But still...no leader. First time that has happened so it will be interesting to see how the overly disorganized, constantly bickering Survivor tribe pans out!
Oddities I Saw This Episode...
There is always something that just don't sit right....
Odd Things I Noticed This SeasonFirst accident of the season: I thought it odd that Gillian, who claimed to be a nurse, wouldn't even try to help Randy when he banged his head so hard against the shelter logs that blood
was running down his face. He asked for help and all she said was "it's so dark, I can't see a thing". Seems a nurse or a MOM would have at least gotten a piece of cloth to hold onto the wound to stop the bleeding. They called Medics and they stitched him up and all was fine. I thought there'd be some bickering going on about that from Randy, but either there wasn't or it was edited out! Could have been to "descriptive" for TV! Randy is not to nice as far as being a team player - he is sitting back and watching the rest "fall on their asses". Good strategy, Randy, just hope they don't vote your off for not "participating".
I think this season is the winner for "most clevage hanging out", the "blurred out" technique was used in overdrive!
Michelle was the most smart mouth, self righteous player since Johnny Fairplay - first thing she said was her tribe was nothing but "a bunch of retarded dorks and loosers." Now who's the looser, Michelle!
The Fang tribe just seems to have a full team of people that don't want to do anything - to many slackers. Although bickering and complaining is a big part of Survivor, this season it seems that they are all on one tribe! And WOW the arguing and bickering is massive!
"Want to see elephant dung? Many parts are edible"...or so says Gillian. No one could believe that she was pulling this gross menagerie apart...looking for something to eat! But she didn't try any of it!
Fang is the most unhappiest, disgruntled, unorganized, lacadazical tribe EVER in the history of Survivor!!!

- I am a fan and I agree with your observations of the first episode. Hard to figure out why they don't dress as a contestant "just in case" from the moment they leave home! We'll see how the season plays out. I'm not picking the winner yet, but give me a few more episodes!

- I liked Survivor: Gabon so far. My favorite castaway so far is Marcus. That man is lovely to look at and, he seems to have a good head on his shoulders. I don't like Ace so far. He is too full of himself. I like Bob. He is proving himself quite and asset to his tribe.
I like that we have some really good looking guys this season. And, it is nice to see the men in the skivvies now since we are so used to seeing the ladies in theirs usually. I have not been a consistent fan of the show in the past. A season here, a season there but, I like what I see so far.
