Sustainble Green -- Gradually Going & Staying Green
This lens is about growing a sustainable going green lifestyle -- ongoingly going green and gradually growing greener.
Between the moment of the natural spring equinox Earth Day (on or around March 20) and the eco-activist April 22 Earth Day, I celebrate an Earth Month, then sustain my green festivities through April (as the official Earth Month) all the way to June for the United Nations observance of World Environment Day and to the summer solstice.
Keeping a long Earth Season reminds me that every day on this planet can be observed as a new Earth Day. I aim to sustain the fun of life on Earth shifting to sustainable green habits.
Sustainability and greenness can be a complex and controversial concepts, relating to environmentalism, climatology and ecology and the many sub-topics and tangents, overlapping most, if not all, earth and life sciences. Yet, besides major global shifts, going and growing green can happen, voluntarily and naturally, through small, simple lifestyle changes close to home, day by day.
There are many styles and methods of going green and green going. Eventually this lens will cover a wide range of green living and related topics, approaches and opinions. Look for new links because I add sites as I search during research.
Many of the links fall on one side or the other of frequently asked questions (faqs) about the facts of climate change and going green: Does, or how does, going green affect climate change? What is, or is there any, scientific proof of climate change? Is or how much climate change is caused by humans (anthropogenic climate change)?

My Favorite Sustainable Green Life Changes

It wasn't so hard to cut-down and then STOP using disposable plastic shopping bags. Whenever I find one blowing around I recycle it by re-using it or putting it in the bag-recycle bin in the grocery store entryway.

I've recycled paper, cardboard, glass, and plastic for many years. I started when the collection bins appeared in my neighborhood. When I find recyclables on top of the plain garbage dumpster or on the ground I throw them in the nearest recycling bin.

I concoct beverage-treats from Emergen-C portable, powered vitamin drink and swig them from comfortable-to-hold, use-over bottles and jars.

I travel most places by mass transit and when I need to use a car I Zip along!

I turn everything electrical all the way OFF when not in use. If a standby-mode kicks in when a device is switched "off" I unplug. To avoid frustration, I plug related items into a strip so I can flip them all OFF or ON at once.

I promote recycling in casual conversation and by example, to plant or nurture seeds of green awareness that may sprout into green actions another day.

I recommend recycling as an open-ended, connection deepening (and naturally sacramental) spiritual practice, as well as an active, everyday way of living prayer and meditation amid the flow of the life. Recycling is an ordinary, doable individual action that expresses (and links to) wondrous, ongoing universal renewal.

I dilute soap products, such as dish soap, laundry detergent and shampoo. Products vary, so I have fun experimenting.
