Hiring has a very different meaning depending on the type of organization one is hiring for. If the process is for a large organization wherein an individual is expected to work for 8 hours a day with 20 other people, then the hiring parameters would include judging the candidate on being a good team player and his/her overall attitude towards work.

However, everything takes a backseat when hiring for a startup.

A startup is all about changing the world. Adding value, making the world a better place to be in. The most important resource that a startup has (or rather needs) is people who will form the core team of the organization when it is no longer touted as a mere startup. This, trust me, is not a very easy task (especially in India where there a lot of Multinationals offering fat packages to good talent).

We realized this problem when Waqar, the founder for Sutra HR, was working with his previous venture. We decided to address this particular problem in the market and realized that the Indian market had no other player operating in this segment; and hence Sutra HR was founded.

Sutra HR started with companies who had just entered the market and had a good product. All they wanted to reach the next level was people. Again, there were companies who had an excellent product and wanted better people to either market it or make their website and carry out similar task. This is where we come in and we work closely with the CEO or the HR manager, whoever is taking care of the hiring process and and make sure that you get the right kind of talent to take you to that next level.

The keyword in our business is "Personal Attention".

I am often reminded of Jerry McGuire when I mention this to people, but again, we are in a very similar business where the big sharks are being fed by the big HR firms, who churn out resumes and are more focused on closing positions than helping the company achieve what it truly deserves.

We ensure that people come back up every morning and be fitter, more committed to get things done in a qualitative and in an efficient manner.

This is the reason why we have worked with some of the biggest companies (firms that grew with us) and are still their 'hiring agents' after they have reached a decent size.

Well, its just been a year since we have setup our office in the Suburbs in Mumbai, India. We have started a job board that is completely free of cost at http://sutrajobs.com. This initiative is to reform the brick and mortar model that is prevalent in the Indian HR industry and have a technology driven interface that bridges the gap between the job seeker and the employer.

Apart from this, we are also pushing out into a few other projects, all targeted at the Indian Startup Industry.

Also, we are moving ahead with offices in various parts of the country.
