Swarovski Crystals
Every woman knows Swarovski Crystals, the high precision-cut lead crystal glass. To maximize the refraction of light, Swarosvki Crystal contains approximately 32% of lead. Swarovski is the brand name used in a lot of jewelry, as well as crystal figurines, sculptures, couture but also home decor, produced by Swarovski AG, Switzerland.
The Swarovski Group includes several companies, such as Tyrolit, a manufacturer of cutting tools or Swarovski Optik, which produces optical instruments.
About Swarovski
As mentioned before, Swarovski Crystal contains approximately 32% of lead for maximisation of light refraction. Additionally some Swarovski crystals are as well coated with some special coatings that will allow the crystal to refract the light in a rainbow spectrum. For this several metallic chemical coatings are used, such as Aurora Borealis, also known as AB, which is among the most famous coatings. Other coatings you may find are Crystal Transmission, Dorado, Aurum an Volcano. If you find mentioned the coating AB, it means that the object was coated once with Aurora Borealis, while the label AB 2x signifies that the object was coated twice.
The company operates also the crystal-themed theme park at its original location in Watten, Austria, called Swarovski Kristallwelten. This theme park is dedicated to the founder of the company, Daniel Swarovski, as well as the history of the company and an exhibition of crystals.

About Daniel Swarovski

Three years later, in 1895 he founded together with his moneyman Armand Kosman and Franz Weis the Swarovski company. This time it was called A. Kosmann, Daniel Swarovski & Co, but was shortened later to K.S. & Co. To capitalise of local hydroelectricity for the grinding processes, that Daniel Swarovski had patented, the company installed a crystal cutting company in Wattens, Austria, where Daniel Swarovksi died in 1956. Wattens nowadays is the home of Swarovski Kristallwelten, a indoor theme park devoted to Daniel Swarovski, the exposition of crystals as well as everything around the history of the company.

- Didn't know about the lead. Interesting.
As more and more gems become rarer, especially Tanzanite these will be used more and more. I like them better than diamonds. Don't have to worry about anyone being hurt over them.
