Great Honeymoon Ideas
What is romantic to one person is not necessarily romantic to another. When planning your once-in-a-lifetime honeymoon it is important to choose a vacation destination and activities that you will enjoy. Your honeymoon is the perfect time to try something you've always dreamed about. While traveling to far-away destinations takes longer and costs more, once you are there you can try something really unique!
1) Take a bath under the night sky in a sunken marble bathtub at Amandari in Bali.
2) Enjoy a romantic picnic on a secluded beach on Bedarra Island in Australia.
3) Rent a villa with a private pool overlooking New Zealand's Bay of Islands at Eagle's Nest.
4) Spend your days relaxing in a honeymoon bure with a plunge pool and a large terrace on Yasawa Island, Fiji.
5) After spending a few days exploring Venice, Florence and Rome, head to one of the hotels on the Italian coast where you can unwind next to a pool.
Sometimes the best way to make your vacation seem longer is to try new activities, such as scuba diving, mountain biking and surfing. For scuba diving and snorkeling, few places are better than the Great Barrier Reef in Australia. At Lizard Island you can take introductory scuba diving courses, or try tennis, snorkeling, glass bottom boat rides and sport fishing. Closer to home, great places to scuba dive include Maui, Virgin Gorda and the Bahamas.
The World's Most Romantic Beaches
1. Matira Beach, Bora Bora, Tahitian IslandsIt's not the soft white sand, the spectacular sunsets or the languid tropical breezes that put Matira Beach on Bora Bora's southern tip at the top of our list of the world's most romantic beaches. It's the calm, warm, crystal-clear water -- the perfect playground for dolphins, ray, vibrant tropical fish and you!
The island of Bora Bora is completely encircled by reefs and smaller islands, creating a shallow, protected lagoon that offers the best swimming and snorkeling around. For a day -- or a year -- of pure, lazy pleasure with your new spouse, Matira Beach is an unbeatable choice.
2. Pink Beach, Harbour Island, Bahamas
No list is complete without the Bahamas famous Pink Beach. Wide, lined with palms, and made up of fine-grained sand in a glorious shell-pink, Pink Beach would be stunning even without the warm and welcoming Caribbean lapping at its edge. Spend a day there, and we bet you decide to come back for your first anniversary -- and maybe your second and third.
3. Promenade des Anglais, Nice, France
Picture a wide promenade lined with stylish boutiques and cafes just steps away from the azure waters of the Mediterranean. Jaunty blue and white umbrellas dot what must be the world's most chic beach -- the Promenade des Anglais on the glamorous French Riviera.
The Promenade des Anglais offers beautiful sand and swimming to rival other top beaches, but with an aura of pampered sophistication that can only be found in France. If you're looking for the romance of pure delight, turn your attention to Nice and the Promenade des Anglais.
4. Green Sand Beach, Hawaii, USA
White-sand beaches aren't common. Pink-sand beaches are downright unusual. But only on the geological wonderland that is the Big Island of Hawaii can you find the rarest of them all -- a beach made of deep green crystals. The sand is formed almost entirely of olivine, a crystal found in the nearby volcano. The beach is tiny and offers wading more than swimming. And considering you have to hike three miles to get there, the Green Sand beach is romance you have to earn. But don't be discouraged. The memory of standing with your new spouse, watching the blue waters of the Pacific pound glowing green sand, will fill your dreams for a lifetime.
Let's Go To Europe!
Europe is one of my most favorite places to travel. The romance here is unprecedented! Here are some great suggestions for a Sweet Honeymoon European Style!
**Historic Dromoland Castle, built in the 17th century, is Ireland's largest five-star resort outside of Dublin. Located in Newmarket-on-Fergus, it's the ancestral seat of the O'Briens, direct descendants of the High King Brian Boru. And for nearly five centuries it has welcomed royalty, politicians, celebrities, tycoons, and lovers of all ages.
**The Chateau d'Esclimont in St. Symphorien le Chateau, France, is an experience unto itself. The staff is friendly and accomodating. The rooms are decorated with decadence. The sprawling 150-acre grounds include horseback riding, canoeing, tennis courts and golf. It's also about an hour from Paris and a few minutes from Chartres. The hotel's dining room is world-renowned for its fine cuisine.
**Turin, Italy
While Turin is best known as the repository of the shroud of Turin and birthplace of Fiat and Italy's automotive industry, the city's hosting of the XX Winter Olympics has attracted fresh attention to Turin. Founded by the Romans in 28 BC, Turin today has a population of one million and is just an hour from both the Alps and the Mediterranean Sea. To reach Turin, international visitors fly to Malpensa Airport in Milan, also an hour away.
** Castilla y León, Spain
In this scenic rural region northwest of Madrid, couples can travel back in time and bear witness to the march of civilization. A feast for the senses, Castilla y León reveals itself via architectural treasures and archeology finds, through centuries-old traditions and lively festivals, and with classic wines and contemporary cuisine.
**Aphrodite's Island, Cyprus
A rich and varied schedule of festivals and other events makes this island nation unique in the Mediterranean. Cyprus is proudly reclaiming its ancient honor of being the birthplace of the goddess Aphrodite, and even is offering a tasteful re-creation of her ancient rites.
**Schloss Monchstein - Salzburg, Austria ~ For those seeking fresh air, breathtaking scenery and classical music, Schloss Monchstein is a perfect honeymoon destination. Rooms at this castle resemble hotel rooms more than other castles listed here, but the rooms are well appointed and elegant. Book a package through the website, and pair your fairy-tale stay with local entertainment for maximum value.

Making a Great Honeymoon!
Five tips to help make your Honeymoon go smoothly.1)Budget Before You Buy
Before you try to figure out how to save money on your honeymoon, know how much you have to spend. Whether you're surprised in a good way (lotsa money!) or in a not-so-good-way (we'll be practically broke after the wedding), it's necessary to have an amount in mind in order to start pricing flights and lodgings.
2)Go Off-Season
Regardless of the month you plan to take your honeymoon, it's always low season (a cheaper time to visit) somewhere. For instance, instead of paying top dollar at a ski resort after a December wedding, you can get bargain rates and find plenty to do on the slopes in July. If you're beach lovers, don't let the words "hurricane season" completely scare you off of visiting Florida or the Caribbean between June and November. Plenty of people live in those places year-round, and more often than not showers are brief and the sun soon emerges.
3)Enjoy a Quickie
Not every honeymoon involves a grand tour of Europe and lasts two weeks or more. You can pack a lot of lovin' into a long weekend, especially if you don't travel far from home. Look into romance packages at local hotels and weekend getaway deals.
4)Bid on a Travel Auction
Going... going... gone! That can be you, if you bid on and win a travel auction. Thanks to the transparency of prices on the Web, couples who put in the time to research beforehand can be savvy about what cruises and vacations cost. That enables them to bid on a travel auction without paying more than something is actually worth.
5)Win a Free Honeymoon
Speaking of trying your luck, why not enter vacation travel contests to try to win a free honeymoon? I link to ones sponsored by legitimate companies, so the worst that could happen is that you give up some personal information when you fill out an entry and get some spam. And the best that could happen is that you win an all-expenses-paid trip to someplace truly great the ultimate way to save money on a honeymoon!
Essential Things to Know....
**In March, the department warned a crush of new passport applicants-more than 1 million a month-had inundated its staff and caused extended delays at the peak of the January-to-April season when many people prepare to travel over the spring and summer. The State Department says it is cranking out U.S. passports in historically high numbers to meet an unprecedented surge in demand caused by tough new immigration rules.Click here for more info.
**On a crowded city street with a large tour group, and you are busy looking at history and your wife wanders off to the nearest shop? Men, carry a large patterned umbrella (big, bright flowers work well) and have your wife carry the same. Then, if you get separated, you can both open them up and raise them above the crowd and find each other in an instant.
**Consider placing an extra bag with a zipper on your boxer shorts. Put your belongings in a plastic bag in there when going to tropical countries. Sweat will not pass the plastic, and it takes a great pickpocket to steal your belongings.
**When going through metal detectors at airports, DO NOT put your laptop on the conveyer just yet. Wait till there is no one in front of you. There have been scams where you put your laptop on the belt, and the person in front of you has a metal object with them causing you and the rest a delay, while his accomplice at the other side waits for your laptop and takes off with it.
**Don't assume you will be able to tap into your voice mail from foreign pushbutton phones. Telephones have 'accents' and what works in the U.S. may not work from England. Have a back-up plan in place or take a portable tone-imitator.
**Make sure that you have no excess baggage. Get rid of old claim checks and outdated identification tags before you travel. Also take off shoulder straps, add-a-bag straps, hanging hooks, and anything else that could get ripped or knocked off during a flight, if you are checking your luggage.
**Since breakfast is a highlight of most B&B stays, mention any special dietary preferences when booking an inn. Enjoy the fact that you are eating a delicious breakfast that the chefs pride themselves in (innkeepers are usually happy to share their signature recipes with you to make at home).

(Some services are available only on a seasonal basis.) Furnace Creek Inn & Ranch Resort is the perfect vantage point from which to explore Death Valley National Park!
