When it comes to swimming pools, most people prefer an in ground pool. However, an above ground pool is just as good, if not better.

Above ground pools have three things over in ground pools:

1. Safety
2. Installation
3. Maintenance

Safety: Above ground pools are safer since they are obviously higher; thus, it's harder for animals and kids to fall in.

It not only helps keep children from falling in, but adults as well. One good trip or slip and in you go. Sometimes that slip or trip can result in a minor injury or worse.

Installation: Above ground pools go up in a flash, usually 1 - 2 hours. And, unlike an in ground pool, there's no mess.

Maintenance: Because above ground pools are higher, less debris, frogs, toads, spiders, etc. find their way in. Thus, maintenance time is reduced. If for no other reason, this alone should make above ground pools very tempting.

Speaking of animals falling in! A number of years back, a neighbour across the road from us decided to put in a pool. He went for an in ground pool, which everyone told him was a mistake. If the ground is lower on one side than the other, the water will shift and cause the pool to bulge. The resulting pressure will tear up the pool or it simply won't work.

So, keep the above in mind as you think about getting a pool. And if you're ground is level enough, an above ground pool would be a great way to go - and it will keep the donkeys out.

Remember, it may seem like a nuscance, but it's worth it when you think of how easy it would be for a little child to drown in your pool because you were careless with the laws of pool safety.

So, take some time out before hand and do a google search to learn about your states pool laws. You'll be glad you did.
