Swimsuits for Pregnancy - What´s Your Choice?

If you've always kept yourself fit by exercising then there is no need to stop just because you're pregnant, but you may need to consider alternative forms of exercise. Swimming is a great form of exercise and it is a good idea to invest in a swimsuit for pregnancy that expands as your bump grows. Years ago there wasn't much choice when it came to choosing a swimsuit for pregnancy but nowadays the choice is much greater as pregnant women demand more stylish, fashionable and functional swimwear. There seems to be two very different types of pregnant women these days and these are women who like to show off their bare bumps in short tops or bikinis and those who prefer to keep their bump under wraps and invest in a one piece swimsuit for their pregnancy. Which type are you?

Swimsuits for Pregnancy - It´s Your Choice

Bikini

Choosing whether to wear a bikini or a one piece swimsuit for pregnancy is very much a personal choice but make sure you invest in a good quality swimsuit that contains at least 20% spandex or lycra to help the swimsuit maintain its shape and support your body,as it expands to accommodate your bump.

This particular style of bikini has a halter neck tie for easy adjustment and offers great support. The bikini top comes in different cup sizes too. The briefs offer good coverage and have ruched sides that expand as you expand, making it comfortable throughout each stage of your pregnancy.

Swimsuits for Pregnancy - Which Swimwear?

Tankini or One Piece

If you prefer to keep your bump under wraps when choosing a swimsuit for pregnancy, then choose either a tankini or a one piece.

Remember to choose a swimsuit that has at least 20% spandex or lycra as once your body starts expanding and your breasts get fuller and heavier, you will be thankful for the extra support offered by these fabrics. A tankini may well be more suitable for you than a one piece since you can buy the tops and bottoms separately which is useful if your top half has expanded far more than your bottom half.

Alternatively if you like a little more coverage then opt for a one piece swimsuit with a ruched or pleated front, which offers extra room to accommodate your growing bump. Some one piece swimsuits for pregnancy have small flirty skirts which can look very pretty and feminine.

One word of advice though, do not be tempted to buy a plus size swimsuit instead of a maternity swimsuit, because they are not designed to support in the same manner nor are they designed to comfortably expand with you.
