So here are just a few of the gorgeous flower to start! These are wild Phlox (or as some prefer - Sweet Williams).

Turk's Cap
I found many of these growing along the river bank here at the River Park in Connellsville, PA, which is located along the Great Allegheny Passage Bike/Hike trail. The stems of these lilies grow 4-5 ft tall. As ususal, I had to do some climbing and bushwacking to get
the photo!
The Nodding Onion
During one of our walks along the Bike/Hike trail, I saw this "umbrella" looking flower, and I had to get a closer look!!Beautiful pink flowers! To my surprise, it's a Nodding Onion!
This onion is different than the Autumn Wild Onion, because the flowers hang in drooping clusters, as I see it, like an Umbrella.
This is a perennial that grows each year from a bulb. The Indians once used the bulbs to treat colds, colic and croup!
Butterfly Flower
and a Bonus!
Check out the gorgeous color of this Butterfly Flower. Can you imagine my excitement when I found this butterfly on it! They match so well!
I took this across the river opposite the trail while walking along some railroad tracks. I have tons more photo to show you too!
Daisy
He loves me, he loves me not, he loves me!
Remember pulling the petals off one at a time, while saying this? This is an Ox-eyed daisy, and these flowers are everywhere along our countryside, not just our bike trail!
Water Lily
On one of our recent trips to Twin Lakes in Greensburg, PA, I spotted this beautiful flower!I had never seen one close up (really, and I am 54 yrs old), so I climbed the fence and headed down to the edge of the shore. I stretched as far as I could to get this beautiful shot of this gorgeous flower!
Beautiful Colors!
Mother Nature sure can paint a beautiful flower!
Now you can see the beautiful Phlox (Sweet William) in all it's glory all year round!Go to http://carolwingert.com/phlox/ and get your screen saver today!
Star of Bethlehem
These beautiful flowers open at daylight and go to "sleep" at night. I actually watched them slowly go to sleep. It's amazing!Unfortunately they are not longer with us. They lasted approximately three weeks.
The Day Lily
This beautiful orange flower is called a Day Lily for a good reason. It blooms for one day only then dies.It makes you appreciate it so much more!
More by ME!
I hope you enjoy looking at these flowers as much as I do!

- Beautiful shots and I admire your passion for what you do. I stumbled across this site trying to identify some of the wild flowers and plants growing in our yard. It is pretty likely I will be buying your book as well. I'm from Greensburg, not far from you, and I'd love to contribute to someone local rather than B&N. I am trying to figure out what is edible mainly. Thanks for sharing your talents!

- I enjoyed this. Brings back memories from the years I lived not far from you, in Confluence, PA. We used to get loads of wildflowers on the farm. I didn't know what most of them were called, but I loved them just the same.
