Syd Mead is a great futuristic auto, concept and space artist, with a distinct style.

This lens is a sort of wish list as well as a source to help people find Syd Mead art and items. Plus he is also a great teacher. You can learn the importance of light reflection in artwork and more from his work, books and DVD series.

This next video really shows some of his great work to help with a wish list. Then further down in one of the other videos he gives a great art tip.

The Art of Syd Mead, by csnc82

I created this video with some images of the art of Syd Mead, the master behind the art of Blade Runner, Tron, Star Trek: The Motion Picture, 2010, Aliens, Short Circuit, Yamato 2520, Strange Days, Time Cop, Mission to Mars. He is an industrial designer: Cars, planes, spaceships, cities and all sort of machines, characters and surreal futuristic creatures. You can see his influence in everyday life!!!!! The music comes from Alden Tyrell's album: Times like these (2006) - "Voyagers End".

Our Syd Mead Wall

Syd Mead's prints is the only collection in art that we have. Sure we have other art, but when we get one of his big prints it's sent down to our framer friend, and he does a special framing job. I only got a few photos of our collection, because some are still being framed.

This print above is nicely framed with some cut angles and 4 diamond gems to show off the great light reflection on the car and it's head lights.

My Hubby can watch Blade Runner over and over. I also have HotWheels that were designed by Syd Mead.

One thing that is cool are the lizards for pets and the lizard-mammal creatures. One print we just missed on eBay has lizard race horses. The faster future for horse racing, LOL.

In this installment, we go inside Syd's studio in Pasadena, CA, and learn more about the creative process behind his work for movies, television, and automobile design -- both Hot Wheels and life-sized -- and how Syd feels about design in the video game industry.

Mead is a former designer for Ford Motor Company and US Steel. His designs have appeared in many movies, including Aliens, Tron, and Blade Runner.

It's something you need to search when you think about it. His big prints don't come up often.

We have picked up some here and there at Estate Sales or swap meets. Mostly on Ebay though. Just have to check it at least once a week.

If you're in the Los Angeles area, Syd Mead is showing an exhibition of his career's work at the Forest Lawn Museum in Glendale, from 1-27-2012 to 4-15-2012. In addition to numerous works of art, there are several poster prints of his available. They range from $14.00 to $70.00, which is the only one that is signed.
