Sydney FC
Sydney FC was founded in 2004 and is an Australian football (soccer) club based in Sydney. Sydney FC competes in the Hyundai the A-League. Sydney FC won the first ever A-League Championship in 2005-06 by beating the Central Coast Mariners 1-0 in the Grand Final. By being the first ever A-League Champions, Sydney FC qualified for the the 2007 AFC Champions League. Sydney FC unluckily finished 2nd in its group behind Japanese Champions Urawa Red Diamonds.
Sydney's home ground is the Sydney Football Stadium, a 45,500 seat stadium in the inner-city suburb of Moore park. In its first 2 seasons, Sydney FC became known as the "glamour club" of the A-League competition, due to the club's high-profile members of staff and players. These included investor and actor Anthony LaPaglia, ex-Manchester United starlet Dwight Yorke and World Cup winner Pierre Littbarski as manager in the first season.
Since then, times haven't been so happy for the Sydney Club. They ended season 2 on a bad note by being knocked out of the finals by Newcastle Jets and ended in 4th place. Season 3 has been a mixed bag for the Sydney FC faithful so far but if anyone can change things then previous NSL winning coach Branko Culina is the man for the job.

Yeah. Its a different world from the English Premier League to the A-League. Nothing like a good beer and a chant while watching your favourite team. Posted January 14, 2008 |

I went to see Sydney FC vs Newcastle Jets in December 2007 a Sydney's ground - great atmosphere, you could drink whilst watching the game (can't do this in England) and a good attendance. Football standard wasn't what I am used to but it was still a good night out :) Posted January 13, 2008 |
