Are You Experiencing Symptoms Of Low Thyroid?

Having symptoms of low thyroid will cause drastic changes in your life. You will go through many changes that are so subtle in the beginning you may mistake the low thyroid symptoms for something else.

You may just think that the changes in your body are a result of getting older. Just have a look at the list and you will notice that a lot of these are things that most people go through as we age. You may think that it is just the stress of everyday life.

The changes that this problem brings upon you are so hard to pinpoint, even doctors are unfortunately often missing what is really wrong. Sometimes the symptoms of low thyroid can be mistaken for the flu or some virus that is spreading. That just gives you an idea of just how miserable being hypothyroid can make you feel, because having the flu is a horrible feeling.

Whatever you or your physician thought in the beginning, if the problems persist or get worse, you should request to be tested for hypothyroidism. There is a good chance you could have low thyroid levels.

The test is simple and for the most part, painless. Your doctors office will draw some of your blood to send off to the lab for testing. Within a week you should have your results.

How Many Symptoms Of Low Thyroid Do You Have?

Many people don't realize the extent that the thyroid can control you. Just have a look below at this list of symptoms of low thyroid:

Memory Problems
Depression
Trouble Thinking Clearly
Swelling of Tongue
Sleepiness
Fatigue
Weakness
Dry Skin and Brittle Nails
Dry Cracked Heels
Loss of Sex Drive
Heat Intolerance
Hair Loss
Hoarse voice

While you may not have all of these symptoms of low thyroid at once, if your thyroid is left untreated you could experience most of these eventually. If you have been experiencing as many as 3 or 4 of these problems on a regular basis, I would highly recommend that you go have your blood work done. This disorder affects approximately 11 million people around the world, so it could very well be the reason behind your sluggish days of feeling bad.

Low thyroid symptoms can affect every part of you, including your mood. The mental side effects which is one of the symptoms of low thyroid are very real and one of the most frustrating side effects of low thyroid. At times you may feel like you are losing your mind. Since the beginning of time never has there Nike Hyperfuse been another with my mind, my heart, my eyes, my ears, my hands, my hair, my mouth. None that Nike Zoom came before, none that live today, and none that come tomorrow can walk and talk and move and think exactly like me. All men are my brothers yet I am different Kobe VII from each. yes being tired all the time can be a symptom of low thyroid. So is low body temperature, hair loss, abnormal hair growth, brain fog, mood swings, difficulty staying warm, sensitivity to heat, night sweats, difficulty losing weight, or gaining weight, etc.... to find out if u have a thyroid problem they test TSH, T3,T4, and TPO antibodies. Everyone is an individual just because TSH comes back normal doesn't mean their isn't something wrong with your thyroid. if u think there is something wrong with ur thyroid it is best to see a endocrinologist dr. but needing sleep more than average can be a symptom of other things as well. Like for example sleeping disorders, depression, autoimmune disorders, the common cold, etc....

Thanks, I'm glad it was helpful. Since hypothyroidism is so much more common in women, many people don't realize that men also suffer from this disease. I hope that your dad has his under control and living a full life.

You are so right Catsinger, the numbers are astounding I am certain. Unfortunately it gets really bad most of the time before most doctors will ever think to run thyroid tests.

I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism back in 1992-1993 and after being put on synthroid was taken off by my doctor after I moved into another state and switched physicians. Many years later I was told I need meds and should have never been taken off. Well back in April 2009 I was told after an ultrasound nd more labs by an endocrinologist that I had Hashimotos Disease..as well as a small goiter, but nothing to worry about, so she put me on another med ( LITHYRONINE ) to go along with my levothyroxine. So since that Dr. quit taking my insurance and have recently been seen by a new Endo who did an ultrasound last week to find I had 2 masses, one on each side of my thyroid. I went in this past Monday for a biopsy and am awaiting my results. My symptoms are so sever I feel like I am crawling out of my skin. Anxiety is horrible, I feel like I am dieing 24 hrs a day and mind you NO SLEEP at all. I cry all day cause I can not function...I have a 10 year old daughter and a 3 year old son at home
