Type 2 diabetes is more common among people who are above 40 years and above and insulin is not a must dose so it is known by the names as adult onset diabetes or insulin independent diabetes. The other main type of diabetes is gestational diabetes which is to women during second phase of the pregnancy.

Adult onset diabetes symptoms appear slowly. Most of the times people don't feel they are suffering with any kind of disease. Diabetes is deadly if left ignored it leads to severe complications if treatment is not given properly.

Adult onset diabetes is because of the body unable to regulate blood glucose levels or if the receptors of the cells fail to react to the insulin produced which is commonly known as insulin resistance.

The most common symptoms of adult onset diabetes are

Excessive urination

Increase in appetite

Excessive thirst

Unexplained weight loss

Increased susceptibility to infections.

Type 2 diabetes if ignored it affects the various parts of the body.

Nephropathy: Kidneys are damaged due to high blood sugar levels.

Retinopathy: Tiny blood vessels are damaged at the back of the eye due to high blood sugar levels. It can be minimized by controlling blood sugar levels. Untreated retinopathy leads to permanent blindness.
