Intro To T3
Advantates of the T3
The space requirements are less as well because everything can be brought in on a single line instead of having to have large numbers of wires in order to carry all the lines and supply the signal. Normally a T1 line ends at the smart jack, which is a specific type of phone jack. A T1 line will only use a fiber connection called a two pair to bring your signal.
The way a T1 line works is that it contains 24 channels each of these channels is available to everyone and calls are routed based on what channel is free. It is limited however to somewhere between 50 and 100 users with regular loads. If you have more than 100 users or if you are in a situation which is highly phone intensive such as a call center you will then want to consider a T3 line especially if you are equipping for data as well as voice.
High-speed internet such as the Digital Subscriber Line or DSL is fairly well known. It is a non-dedicated line, which is slower than a T1 connection. DSL lines use existing telephone lines in order to carry the service. This is to provide convenience and savings since this type of line is perfect for individual use.
Unless you are running a very small business, however it is not the best for business. A T1 circuit is dedicated and is designed to be used by businesses in order to be able to run not only the data applications but also the voice applications that are necessary for business. For small businesses that have grown past a DSL connection and for most regular businesses that are not data and voice service intensive a T1 connection works perfectly.
Schools, larger businesses or businesses that deal heavily in voice and data services are probably going to want to go with a T3 line because of load. It can be used for data or voice or can even be configured to handle both. In order to determine which the best configuration is for you consider what your current data and voice usage is and then compare.
It is also a good idea to consider future growth and potential which choosing your voice and data line. If you are just getting the minimum necessary to get by you may find yourself looking for more in the very near future. Keep in mind that new data applications as well as voice applications by nature will end up taking additional bandwidth and space. If you are worried about cost, since a T3 line is more expensive to install, you should not be. Prices have dropped and the potential business gained by having a T3 line more than makes up for the initial investment.

Another tip here is you always do a partial T3, this is where a company may need more than a T1 but not as much as a full T3.
