This tool is not quite finished yet, but it does have the core functionality. If there's anything you would like me to add to this tool, please let me know.

This is EXACTLY what I need.
I'm new to Squidoo, and my heart sank a bit when I found Squidoo doesn't accept the tags.
  • Spency12 Apr 27, 2012 @ 9:44 pm | delete
Awesome lens! The table generator was very easy to use and worked perfect for me! thank you!
  • curious0927 Feb 4, 2012 @ 3:01 pm | delete
Awesome, I do hope this works with Chrome. I do not like FireFox anymore. Not for any reason except I haven't used it for a while and it's like learning something new. I like the clean look of chrome. Am I missing out my not using FireFox for Squidoo? With that said, I love your lenses. All bookmarked, since I will be returning!
  • kievan Feb 7, 2012 @ 6:33 pm | delete
I just checked the look of this lens in Chrome 16 and looks just the same as in the Firefox 10.
You should be fine with Chrome since it is using the same engine as Firefox.

I find it useful but after playing with it (table generator) I encountered some bugs. But anyway, I used it in one of my lenses. Thanks for this! A very useful and helpful lensmaster. :)
  • cgreen7090 Sep 29, 2011 @ 10:50 am | delete
you are perhaps the most helpful lensmaster I've come across yet. Love it!

  • Jun 24, 2011 @ 10:04 pm | delete
I looked at the code that's generated. Interesting how tables can be made without using the table HTML tag when using the proper tools.
  • WeGotNthToDo Jun 5, 2011 @ 1:20 pm | delete

  • JoyfulPamela Jan 10, 2011 @ 8:36 am | delete
I was able to make a cool table with two columns with the generator, but how do I alter it to make a table with 3 or 4 columns? Thank you! =D
  • JoyfulPamela Jan 14, 2011 @ 12:48 pm | delete
I think I figured it out, except my boxes look strange sizes in my columns. I'll keep trying. =D
  • KokoTravel Jan 8, 2011 @ 1:31 pm | delete

I have been meaning to put up some stuff on a lens for ages that needs to be in table format and your table generator di a great jib. Thanks Fluff :D
  • deyani Nov 16, 2010 @ 5:35 pm | delete
oh wowww... thank you so much for a great tool. Was frustrated that I'm unable to create table using HTML code in squidoo, wasted hours to create one and realized I wasn't able to do it. But this tablegenerator tool is amazing, thx once again.
  • janices7 Nov 9, 2010 @ 3:07 pm | delete
Thanks for yet another very useful tool. Just added a bunch of affiliate items to my lenses that I wouldn't have been able to add without this tool. So wanted to say THANK YOU!!!
  • accumike Sep 14, 2010 @ 6:42 pm | delete
You said, "Build up your table in one of the formats listed below, and then copy-n-paste it into the box provided." what box provided? I don't see a box provided when I try to add a table.

You said, "If you are pasting in an existing table from a source code of a web page, then select the HTML option."

I cannot find an HTML option on squidoo. Can you be more specific? Thanks!

    Mike
  • thefluffanutta Sep 15, 2010 @ 4:59 pm | delete
You need to start with the Table Code Generator on SquidUtils. Unfortunately, the convert from HTML option isn't available yet. I shall update the lens to be easier to understand.
  • randygorky Dec 25, 2010 @ 2:47 am | delete
just tried, it's not working for me, i don't why, maybe because my table containing more than on line of words per row.
is there any other way to create table for squidoo?
    thanks mate..
  • Chadrew Sep 1, 2010 @ 1:28 pm | delete
This is a really nice tool. But one thing I noticed is that 3-column tables don't work properly. 2 column, 4 column, 5 or more, whatever else works fine.
  • athomemomblog Aug 6, 2010 @ 5:20 am | delete
Oooh, this has real potential! I'm going to have to think about how I can use it. Thanks!
  • WDBurns Jun 26, 2010 @ 5:35 am | delete
A table that could hold images would be very handy. Any chance?
  • thefluffanutta Jun 29, 2010 @ 7:38 am | delete
You can put images into a table using the <img> HTML tag.
  • Lironah Sep 27, 2010 @ 7:34 pm | delete
What I would do is build a regular table with some throw-away data. Once the table is generated, replace the unneeded sections with the code for your images.
  • nightcats May 23, 2010 @ 12:25 pm | delete

Well, I certainly intend to check this out further. I'm so glad I stumbled upon your lens...I have to bookmark it and add it to my list for Squidoo lenses...
  • gkygrl Mar 16, 2010 @ 12:24 am | delete
This is just awesome Fluff .... I was getting all my HTML stripped (as you stated) until I found another one of your great contributions to Squidoo . You really know this stuff and I, for one, am very grateful for your contributions to Squidoo. AWESOME!
  • ReluctantAuthor Jan 20, 2010 @ 9:28 am | delete
For thje color attributes, could you make a drop down box with available colors on Squidoo?
  • janices7 Jan 18, 2010 @ 11:05 am | delete
Love this tool! Just used it to add a table with baby shower supplies for zoo babies to my Jungle themed baby shower lens (http://www.squidoo.com/jungle-themed-baby-shower) and it looks fantastic! Thank you so much for another great tool....you are a godsend to all us html challenged folks:)
  • dannystaple Jan 13, 2010 @ 5:51 pm | delete
This tool is great. I tend to use it, then copy and paste it into a text editor, and then tweak things like the width of tables, handy with modules which have an image as well, and background colours. Another score for the fluff...
  • rtyndall Nov 15, 2009 @ 12:37 pm | delete
What I like about this tool is that I can create a table in my html editor and get everything where I want it. I can then paste it into the table generator and create an html table that is almost the way I want it.
What I don't like at the moment is that it doesn't create borders or backgrounds the way I want it.
However, it is a good start.
    Thanks

  • thefluffanutta Apr 21, 2009 @ 9:09 am | in reply to drs2biz | delete
@ drs2biz - You might need to reduce the widths in the generated HTML just a tad to make them fit, or adjust the content within the table if there's too much of it. Some newlines or <br>s might help
  • drs2biz Apr 21, 2009 @ 7:54 am | delete
Great lens... 5 *'s and a favourite! Have a wee problem with my first attempt at a Squidoo table, however. It wraps around into one column on the lens instead of the two that appear on the preview of the table generator. Any suggestions?
  • SimeyC Apr 17, 2009 @ 11:29 am | delete
Interesting utility - now I'm not that good at CSS yet - how would I vary the size of the columns once I have created the table - I'd want to reduce the column widths so I could produce a calendar...

Did you go to computer college? Are you really Seth Godin? Maybe your Chuck Norris, huh? - Time will tell! :))
  • Kate-Phizackerley Feb 28, 2009 @ 3:57 pm | delete
Thanks. Inevitably some tweaking needs to be done by hand but it makes it much easier.

5 stars all the way and then some! Great tool for creating tables. Thanks!
  • EuroSquid Nov 28, 2008 @ 10:38 am | delete
Excellent lens Fluff, amazing! I gave it 5*

Here is a question for your FAQs. What is the most number of Columns possible? Any limits? If I make a table with 5, 6 or 7 columns will it get screwy with some browsers or narrow screens?Any rules or tips? My table is 5 columns wide and it looks OK on my labtop, but I am wondering if others might have problems with it. Should I decrease the font as recommended by Kab?
  • Gail_Faulkner Nov 24, 2008 @ 10:56 pm | delete
hi, how do you get pictures inside the table.
  • vbright105 Oct 23, 2008 @ 7:51 pm | delete
I'm trying it. Making tables but of different sizes because of the amount of text. Love what you do for Squidoo!
  • kab Oct 23, 2008 @ 12:08 pm | delete
    Used it today. Loved it!
For my table, it felt a bit crowded (it had 11 small columns, and 3 rows), but in 2 seconds I was able to fix it by pasting the code in notepad and doing find and replace of the number for the width.

If your table is a little too wide, remember you can always drop the font size down a step to get it all in.
  • blue22d Oct 23, 2008 @ 10:44 am | delete
Wow, didn't know we could do tables. Great lens. Five stars and a lensroll. Hope you will visit some of my lenses.

How about including the basic code required for using a simple table in squidoo? Though it's great you have this generator!

Thank you for your Table Generator utility! I was able to make comparison charts on my organic cotton underwear pages.
ALso - it helped me understand how these tags work and then I was able to edit them a bit.

Thank you, Fluff! I used this to make my AL Central baseball standings look 200% better than what I had come up with (and it took a lot less time, too).

    Another excellent tool!

This tool helped me out a lot, and I use it for all of my tabled data now. Squidoo is so visual that being able to present data in an organized format is critical to both its function and presentation.

Nice work, Fluff, another great utility.
  • MobyD Jul 29, 2008 @ 8:43 am | delete
    Great lens/tool! 5 stars!

Questions: How would you wrap text to the left or right of the table? Could this be used to create a 2-row table with coding to insert a photo in row 1 and a caption in row 2?
  • BizGuides Jul 29, 2008 @ 5:41 am | delete
Fluff, You are the man! Great tool. This is a Big Five Star Lens! Thanks for your continued help.

very handy tool. very cool 5*
  • The_Health_Lady Jul 3, 2008 @ 9:20 am | delete
I can see where this will come in very handy.

Before this tool was available I remember creating a module with a weak version of a table for one of my lenses (and I don't really know HTML well) and it took me days to get something that looked ok.
