Tablet Kindle Fire

Dose the announcement of Amazons Kindle Fire mean real competition for the iPad?

The Kindle Fire has a 7 inch display as opposed to the 9.7 inch display on the iPad, which makes it more convenient for carrying around, if you do not mind losing 2.7 inches on the display. My immediate wow was the price which is $199.
So is it competition for the iPad?, it depends what use you have for a tablet, as this varies with most people. So I think instead of thinking competition we should be thinking suitability and what suits us as an individual user.

Why the Kindle Fire suits me.

Each to their own needs

All my work is internet related, I use a desktop computer and a 10" Notebook. While I did fancy getting an iPad, I taught the cost was hard to justify for what I needed it for. The main use I would have for a tablet would be while I was away from home, so that I could check e Mail, stats etc... It would also have be handy to show clients samples of work, as I find that I am now getting a lot of local work, especially for Facebook fan pages.

The second reason sounds quiet lazy, while sitting on the couch I could monitor various stats and sites. So I have talked myself into buying one of these, I decided it will be my Christmas present to myself. Amazon are now taking orders now but shipping will not start until the 15th November.

Orders are prioritized on a first come, first delivered basis. Order yours now
