I have the sudden urge to make a few Bass bugs, making your own lures makes fishing even more satisfying, I agree!

I have been searching for this for ages and your first image took me right back to when I was about 8 years old. My brother and i used to make my fathers lures just like that. Great times.

Does anyone know the best way to create bait using bagworms? Is there a special way to get them out of the cocoon without squeezing them and cutting tip off? I seem to be squeezing too hard, or cutting the wrong way, can't seem to keep them alive and wiggling for the bait part of it. I just wanna get something for the trouble these nasty worms have caused in my trees!
Thanks for any help on this!

I was just curious. Have you ever used a downrigger to go fishing? That is probably one of the biggest fishing tips I know - I find that it allows me to get my lure or bait down to the exact depth where the fish are and has improved my fishing results dramatically. I picked up a pretty cheap one at eMarine Supplies

Great lens. I love to fish but don't take much time to make my own tackle.

I really enjoyed this page, I am afraid I am a lazy angler. I tie line on a piece of Styrofoam, bait the hook, throw it out at night and check in the morning. Now I think I have caught all the dumb fish and only the smart ones are left.

What a great hobby to share on a Squidoo lens and very well done. My Mom used to tie flies and I was fascinated with that. These would be so fun to paint. I would guess you are going to have folks trying their hand at making lures, a great gifint idea.

Great lens. Thumbs up. My Pop make all his fishing flies! Been doing it for years. Caught 1000's of fish! Way to go!

I like to fish but I never thought about making my own lures. Might have to try it.

Making tackle seems like a great hobby. My husband and I have not done that, but we do make our own sinkers. Although I wouldn't call that a hobby. :)

I've made a few lures myself, and it can be very satisfying to catch on a homemade lure.
    Great lens 5*

Fantastic lens. Hope to watch it develop. Used to be an avid sea-fisherman, both boat and shore, but haven't had the chance these past few years due to other commitments.

I always made all my own rigs and sometimes lures - perhaps I should do a lens on similar!

Used to love nothing more than standing on a freezing cold Scottish beach at 3am on a January morning, hoping for that big cod to bite and taking the occasional sip from the bottle of "tummy warmer."

    Ahhhh.....memories!

Fantastic. 5* for the memories alone.
