My friend asked me to make a card for her neice that had recently lost her sight. This was a real challenge but an idea came into my head and I set to work.
I decided to make the card as tactile and feely as possibly and made the letters of her name each in a different texture.
I used fur , fabric stars , glitter card and raised flowers.
I lightly embossed the card blank and used pink gems at the bottom of the card to make her name in braille.
She was really pleased with the card and appreciated the thought that had gone into it.

A new venture

I sent a photo of the Lucy card into a cardmaking magazine and was amazed when we got the star letter prize.
Lots of people said I should try and market them more so I went onto google and contacted a few people.
A lovely man got back to me , he lost his sight a few years ago and had an online shop selling items for the visually impaired.
He said he would try and help us market the cards by putting them in his online shop and taking them round to visually impaired groups that he was chairperson of.
He sent us a braille labeller which prints out braille onto clear tape which we can stick over the wording on the card.
We have made up a couple of designs which now feature in the shop and he is taking them round to the groups and getting us feedback on them.
This card comes with a detachable wooden tree decoration which is very tactile as well.
and another one

this card has the word Xmas made up of different textures, felt , foam , glitter card
and big thick red cording top and bottom
it also says xmas in braille
another christmas tactile card

this one has a very cute little felt stocking that comes off and can be used on the tree every year
