Tag Tricks - Key Word Power

This lens explores fun ways to choose keywords (tags) for your lenses. There are 'technical' ways to find keywords of course. These are 'fun' ways. Use these when you are bored with mass data and just want to have some fun :).

This lens started out as a 'how to' find keywords using Wordle. I will be adding new fun ways along the way. Thanks for visiting and Word Power to you!

Wordle - Jonathan Feinberg

Finding the best tags for your lens has never been easier or more fun!

Discover one of the many ways and fun ways to choose tags for your lens. When you are looking at your great new lens, blog post, or website content, and the thought of adding Tags has you stumped, this trick will make it simple for you to discover the most powerful key words in the lens and it is even fun!

My Lens GypsyOwl's Quick Reference Guide generated these Wordle Tags.

GypsyOwl's CafePress Showcase - Dark Background

You can change the colors and the layout (more horizontal is easier to read). That's the fun part.

The functional part of the process is having the most powerful key words larger (to use as tags on your lens) and you can preset the tool to use a maximum of 40 words (which is the limit on a lens).

Try Wordle

This is an easy guide to Wordle

Go To Wordle

Click on Create or Create your own.

You can enter text, a URL, or del.icio.us user name.

Click on Submit

An image will be generated.

You can edit language, font, layout, and color. (in layout you can set a maximum number of words (40 for example), and in the color section you can customize your pallette).

Then click on "Save To Gallery"

Pop up lets you Title the image, indicate user name, and comment (optional). So far, I have only put the URL of the web page in the comment area. You may also decide to add the layout setting or font/color choices to help you later if you like the look and want to create similar images.

The next screen (after you have submitted the Title-user name and comment popup
Is the finished image.

Sroll down to the bottom and you will find the HTML code (which is ready to use on your lens). Copy and paste that code to your lens and you will have a linked image.

Now...
Edit your TAGS (of the lens represented) so that you use the most pertinent of the representation starting with (after the word in your URL), the Largest words in the image then going down the list to the smallest words.

Another tip:
When creating your URL for your lens... use a key word in the URL

Squidoo Tagging Tricks by Mr Lewis Smile

Mr Lewis Smile

"About MrLewisSmile
Hello! My name is Lewis!

I wrote this page because Tagging on Squidoo is SUPER important.

If you've not added more than 3 tags to your lens, you're missing out on some massive linking opportunities. For every tag you add, a page inside of Squidoo links to you. A related page. And all lenses that have that tag link to it.

So just by adding tags, Google sees your lens as part of a NETWORK of related lenses. And ranks your lens higher because it has more MEANING for the surfer."

More Wordle Creativity

After creating this lens, I started trying different things with wordle and gimp. I will share a bit about what I created and share a few ideas of how to use the creations on a lens or to create zazzle designs to sell.

This wordle image was created by typing in the words I wanted to see on the image. The more times I entered any particular word, the larger the image of that word.
